More House School, Frensham Sixth Form results 2018 More House Sixth Formers celebrate super results and Oxbridge success Fantastic Sixth Form results despite special educational needs Pupils at the specialist More House School in Frensham are celebrating A Level and equivalent BTEC triumph, including Oxbridge university entry, having overcome the barriers posed by specific learning and language difficulties For many, before they joined More House academic success seemed an impossibility However 97% of the A Level and equivalent BTEC certificates awarded to More House pupils in this summer’s results were passes, with 63% of grades at C or above More House School’s Headmaster, Jonathan Hetherington, congratulated his pupils on achieving an incredible 31% of certificates awarded at the highest A and A*, or Distinction and Distinction* grades He praised the “incredible determination and talent demonstrated by More House students, and the highly committed teaching and support provided by our specialist teachers” Mr Hetherington noted the school’s 100% pass rate for A-Level equivalent BTEC courses, and this year’s 80% of BTEC grades awarded at Merit or higher, equivalent to an A Level C grade or higher The results are especially impressive since 81% of More House’s Upper Sixth students have an Education, Health and Care Plan, previously known as a Statement of Special Educational Needs Special congratulations have been offered to students Matthew Kenworthy, who achieved A*, A, A, B, and Henry Ginn, who has accepted a place to read Mathematics at Exeter College, Oxford University after securing three A*s Like their peers, both boys have succeeded in the face of significant special educational challenges A majority of More House School’s 2018 leavers have accepted university degree places to study courses as diverse as Architecture, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Physics, History, English Literature, Photography and Music More House School is recognised internationally as a centre for excellence, providing independent day and boarding education for 470 boys aged 8-18 who are intelligent, but experience Specific Learning Difficulties such as Dyslexia, Speech and Language Disorders, or associated specialist learning needs More House School was graded ‘Outstanding’, the highest possible rating, across the board in its most recent Ofsted school inspection, in 2016 For more information, visit www.morehouseschool.co.uk T: 01252 792303 ... possible rating, across the board in its most recent Ofsted school inspection, in 2016 For more information, visit www.morehouseschool.co.uk T: 01252 792303
