communities Present faculty development ● Generation of a welcoming environment to promote students engagement in conducting research with faculty at clinical sites or at our research facility in HPC2 (1) ● The restructured Pharmacy Practice and 2, in which about 15 community-based preceptors participate on alternate Tuesdays to instill critical-thinking and life-long learning skills (1, 2) ● Motivational Interviewing workshop in summer 2014 Every year two “Teachers-of-the-Year” are supported to attend the Annual AACP meeting Beginning 2013, one faculty member is awarded the Dean's Faculty Excellence and is provided a fund to attend a conference of their choice SOP hosts monthly faculty development workshops on a variety of topics School has supported pharmacy practice faculty who were interested in pursuing their Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS) Ongoing Developing; waiting for university web redesign In the meantime, an ‘achievements’ pdf has been posted on the SOP learning as part of the interview process and the written section of the interview day now evaluates critical thinking/reasoning by requiring candidates to defend a position on a controversial topic different pharmacy organizations For instance, 50% of P1 and P2 students in 2013 mentioned they always or often participated in student pharmacy organizations (3) AACP alumni survey in 2013 indicated that 50% of our alumni who responded to the survey were members of ASHP or APhA or their state associated organizations (or a combination of all three organizations) However, we not have any data to see how many of these members assumed leadership positions (3) Since 2009 we have offered an elective in leadership in the spring of each academic year (each year 20 students are enrolled to this elective) (3) The SAS blocks deliver topics in leadership and managerial skills (3) Our joint PharmD/HAL (Health Administration and Leadership, previously known as MHA) program is also available for students to pursue a master degree and learn the craft of leadership Three students from CO2014 graduated this year from HAL (4) Approximately 40-50% of our P3 students who apply to a residency program are enrolled to a residency program (4) Phi Lambda Sigma Org is actively recruiting students (and faculty) (3) Adding additional funds for student to attend conferences ($5,000/year from SOP assisted our students to appreciate the importance of patient care at community pharmacies but also has assisted our preceptors in developing their teaching skills A specific expense budget has been assigned to continue with this innovative practice model in 14/15 This budget was approved in 2014 School’s Advisory Board discussed how to support preceptors seeking innovative practice models in October 2013 board meeting A few suggestions came up which included: using the preceptor advisory committee for input and suggestions; increasing access to preceptors who want to be innovative; focusing on unique areas of opportunity - like Geriatric-Psychiatry; expanding collaborations with Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Center; using more proposed programs like the Pharmacotherapy Clinic Provide faculty support for preceptor training and CE 11 Support appropriate changes in public policy and advocate for pharmacy practice innovations Participate in pharmacy organizational efforts to
