       Position Description Required Qualifications Roles & Responsibilities Compensation & Benefits Mandatory Dates Session Dates Selection Process & Timeline The First Year Experience Office is selecting dedicated undergraduate leaders to assist with implementing SOS throughout sessions in Spring 2018, Fall 2018 and January 2019 Each Orientation Leader serves as a resource for new transfer students and their guests who are transitioning to Auburn University As an Orientation Leader you will get the opportunity to learn about our great university and develop many skills to help you personally and professionally           Must be at least in your second year at Auburn OR be a transfer student Be enrolled as an undergraduate student at Auburn for the spring and fall semesters of 2018 “What makes a great OL? You may think a three hour session every Thursday sounds boring, but being able to spend time getting to know Auburn and the other Orientation Leaders was the best part for me You sit next to a new group of people each week which allows you a chance to get to know each of your co-workers! There is a time for work and a time for play but SOS made work seem like play for me.” -Kelsey STEP 1: LEARN ABOUT THE POSITION Applicants are strongly encouraged to review the application and position information on our website, view our Facebook live video, or attend an information session While none of those actions are required, this information will help you have a better understanding of what the job entails Be sure to also confirm that you are available for all listed dates and will be able to be at the mandatory training in the spring STEP 2: COMPLETE THE ONLINE APPLICATION All parts of the application must be completed and submitted by TUESDAY, OCTOBER 10 AT NOON ESSAY QUESTIONS: You will be asked to answer two prompts The recommended word count is between 100-300 words each We encourage you to prepare your responses in a Word document and copy/paste answers into the online application when ready Everyone answers: Explain why you want to be a member of the Orientation Team, what can you can contribute to the Orientation Team, and what you hope to gain from this experience? Choose one:  Tell us about a challenge you have faced in your time in college How would you convey what you have learned from that experience to the students and families at orientation?  How you embody the Auburn Creed and how would you share the Auburn Creed with the students and families at orientation? SIGN UP FOR A FIRST ROUND INTERVIEW: Come to 189 Foy Hall before TUESDAY, OCTOBER 10 AT NOON to select your interview time RECOMMENDATION FORM: There is not a recommendation required for SOS Applicants without an application or interview time by TUESDAY, OCTOBER 10 AT NOON will not be considered ORIENTATION INFORMATION SESSION Thursday, Sept 28 at 7:30 pm Tuesday, October at pm FACEBOOK LIVE INFO SESSION Wednesday, October at noon APPLICATION DEADLINE Tuesday, October 10 at noon FIRST ROUND INTERVIEWS Monday, Oct 16 - Thursday, Oct 19 FINALISTS POSTED FOR SECOND ROUND INTERVIEWS Friday, October 20 at 10 am SECOND ROUND INTERVIEW SIGN-UPS Friday, October 20 10 am – pm SECOND ROUND INTERVIEWS Monday, Oct 23 – Friday, Oct 27 CALLOUTS Wednesday, Nov at pm STEP 3: PARTICIPATE IN A FIRST ROUND GROUP INTERVIEW You will complete several activities with a small group of other applicants Attire for this round is casual – jeans/casual pants, polo/nice top, comfortable shoes Athletic attire (Nike shorts, other gym shorts, yoga pants, t-shirts) and dressy attire (skirts, heels, suit & tie) are not recommended STEP 4: FINALISTS POSTED FOR SECOND ROUND Come to 189 Foy Hall on October 20th to see if you were selected for a second round interview Lists will be posted at 10 am, and you will have until pm that day to sign up for your second round interview time STEP 5: SECOND ROUND INDIVIDUAL INTERVIEW This will be a short Q&A style interview with a panel of Auburn students and staff You will be asked to bring an object as explained below Be prepared to share a 30-60 second explanation of your object When you arrive for your interview, your explanation will be filmed You will also be asked to repeat your explanation when you enter your interview If applying to be an Orientation Leader: Attire is Business Casual Please bring an object symbolic of your Auburn experience The object can be anything you like, but we ask that you not wear any costumes If you are selected for a second round interview for more than one position: Because you will only have one second round interview, choose one position’s instructions for the second round interview The interview panel will not infer a position preference based on your choice of an object or attire Feel free to speak to each position in your explanation STEP 6: ANNOUNCEMENT OF FYE STAFF (CALLOUTS) The FYE staff will host Callouts on November at pm at the back steps of Cater Hall If selected as an Orientation Leader, Camp or Parent Counselor, please be prepared to stay afterwards until approximately 11:00 pm
