Science of Signatures Advanced Studies Scholars Program 2014 Speaker: Susan Sprake, Business Development Executive, FCI-DO Title: Technology Transfer Overview from the Feynman Center for Innovation Abstract: This presentation will cover an overview of the goals of the Feynman Center for Innovation and the mechanisms used to develop partnerships with industry and to transfer patents and copyrights to industry, academia, and state and local governments Bio: Susan Sprake is a Business Development Executive for the Feynman Center for Innovation formerly the Technology Transfer Division of Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) Ms Sprake has previously served as the Vice Chair of the Federal Laboratory Consortium (FLC) and for many years was the Mid-Continent Regional Coordinator of the FLC The federal laboratories have a rich history of individuals dedicated to transferring federally developed technology to the marketplace for the benefit of the country and the world Susan Sprake has devoted her career, over 20+ years, to assisting industry in partnering with the federal laboratories and enabling such partnerships to reap commercial rewards She prefers to develop long-term strategic relationships with global businesses whose R&D needs are broad and well-matched with LANL’s technological attributes She provides intellectual property management presentations and workshops to industry and government organizations such as SPIE, RESNA, Knowledge Roundtable, Boston University, NIH, IIPI, Proton Europe, SRI, and the Georgetown University embassy series Ms Sprake has her JD from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law and her BA from the University of Maryland
