The Search for Peace in Times of Chaos—Volume God or Gods They teach that God is omnipresent, the only creator, the only ruler of man and the universe, so that He fills all space and is in one place in exactly the same degree that He is in every other place He has no personhood and no personality God is the father-mother, and His universe is wholly spiritual God is all that exists, and what we perceive as matter is an interpretation or illusion of our mind There is not one material element in Him or in anything that He created God created everything spiritually and not materially, and the only kind of man created by Him is the perfect spiritual man, not the (see Special Doctrine section), made in His own image and likeness The Trinity in Christian Science is found in life, truth, and love and is supported by the unity of God, the Christ, and divine science Christ Christian Science teaches that Jesus Christ was sent by God and that His history is factual, including the virgin birth, the Crucifixion, the resurrection, and the ascension Jesus submitted to the Crucifixion of His body on the cross in order that He might be the ǦǤ He wanted to prove that spiritual man is immortal and that his immortality is brought to light not by the death of the physical body but by demonstrating the power of Truth “Jesus’ deed was for the enlightenment of men and for the salvation of the world from sin, sickness and death.”6 Regarding Christ and the Trinity, to her students, Mrs Eddy sent a definition of the Trinity (circa 1898), which read in part: “
Ǧǡǡǡ ǡ ǡ ” (Christian Science Journal, July 1915) This statement clearly reflects Mrs Eddy’s doctrine regarding the uniqueness, unity, and individuality of Christ Jesus’s eternal, spiritual identity They believe His physical body died on the cross, and He rose on the third day as the Bible teaches He proved that God is life and that man is immortal and can never die and that even the belief in death, can be destroyed by the Truth Sin is a state of mind that causes suffering, the atonementfor sin is attained by following Truth and Christ s teachings ~ 81 ~
