OWETP@LUC Abstract The Opioid Workforce Expansion Training Program at Loyola University Chicago (OWETP@LUC) Professionals Project aims to enhance the treatment and recovery of adolescents and transition-aged youth who are at high risk with substance use disorder (SUD) and opioid use disorder (OUD) by creating a pipeline to employment by training 81 second year/Advanced Standing social work students for over three years This project aims are: 1) implement interdisciplinary training for Masters of Social Work students, to promote the integration of behavioral health with primary care, including trauma-informed care, with a focus on working with OUD and other SUD prevention, treatment and recovery services; 2) increase the number of field placements and internships to help meet the behavioral health needs of persons in high need and high demand areas who have, or are at risk for, OUD and other SUD, including children, adolescents, and transitional-age youth; and 3) Develop and enhance faculty development by providing interprofessional training for social work faculty as well as community based clinical site staff In particular, this project will use stipends to train an additional 81 students in interprofessional settings with at-risk or high need youth To this, the LUCSSW will create a sustained structure for training that includes the expansion of relevant field opportunities integrated with didactic classroom experiences and cross-collaboration with clinical providers The Shared Learning Collaborative, described in detail in Goal 3, will be a unique opportunity to have the community shape the curriculum to reflect changing trends in the field and faculty to disseminate current research to define practice The Collaborative will be a partnership of LUCSSW faculty, University faculty, community members, providers, and students and will have an opportunity to disseminate findings to a national audience through conference presentations and publications
