Cross Registration Instructions for Boston Consortium Students BUSPH welcomes students from Boston Consortium colleges (Boston College, Brandeis University, Tufts University and Hebrew College) to cross‐register for one course per semester during the fall and spring semesters. Policy and Procedures o Incoming students must first obtain an approved cross‐registration form from their home institution. o The completed cross‐registration form must be signed by the student’s advisor or dean, and by the Boston University course instructor. An e‐mail is an acceptable substitute for signature for Boston University. o Approval from a course instructor to be registered is academic approval; it does not guarantee a seat in a School of Public Health class. Cross‐registering students are registered, space‐available, approximately one month before the start of the semester. o The signed cross‐registration form must be submitted to the School of Public Health Registrar’s Office along with a completed BUSPH non‐degree registration form, available at http://sph.bu.edu/registrar/forms. o The BUSPH Registrar’s Office staff will send the completed packet to the Boston University Registrar’s Office for processing. Upon completion of the official registration, the student will receive a non‐photo part‐time Boston University identification card. Students are urged to obtain a Boston University photo ID card from the Medical Campus ID Office and have the card coded for building entry prior to the start of classes. o International students must abide by Boston University health and immunization policies and submit the required documentation to Boston University Student Health Services, 881 Commonwealth Avenue, no later than seven (7) days after the start of the semester in which they are registered. The required form is available at http://www.bu.edu/shs/required/index.shtml. o International students must submit copies of all immigration documents to the International Students and Scholars Office at Boston University. The contact information for this office is: 888 Commonwealth Avenue, Second Floor Boston, MA 02215 Phone (617) 353‐3565 Fax (617) 358‐1170 Email isso@bu.edu o Students may cross‐register for only one course per fall or spring semester. Cross‐registration is not available during summer semesters. o Students will be charged by their home institution. o o Students must abide by their home institution’s and Boston University policies in terms of withdrawing from courses. The Boston University Registrar will forward grades to the student’s home institution at the conclusion of the semester. ID Card E‐Mail Account ID cards are required for entry into buildings at the Medical Campus, including entry into the side doors of the Talbot Building. While cross registrants will receive a non‐photo ID, we encourage them to obtain a photo ID card in the ID Office, 710 Albany Street, Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:OO PM, with breaks from 9:00‐9:15 AM and 12:00‐12:30 PM. After obtaining their student ID, new non‐ degree students should begin the process of obtaining an e‐mail address by completing an online application at the Boston University web site, https://weblogin.bu.edu/accounts/create?t emplate_extension=acs;_hostname=acs. Books & Readers A list of course textbooks and readers is posted each semester to the SPH Student Insider, http://sph.bu.edu/studentinsider. Course readers and books may be purchased at the Barnes and Noble BU Bookstore in Kenmore Square or online. When the online application is completed, students must present their current BU ID at the Alumni Medical Library, Learning Resources Center in order to make their e‐ mail address permanent. The Learning Resources Center is located on the 12th floor of the Boston University School of Medicine. Your e‐mail account will normally be available within twelve hours. New non‐ degree students may also open their e‐mail accounts in person at the Alumni Medical Library. Do not forget to bring your BUID with you! Once your e‐mail account is open, you may check it easily online, http://www.bu.edu/webmail/. Your BU e‐mail login name and Kerberos password also give you access to the Student Link, an online resource for BU students located at www.bu.edu/studentlink, and Blackboard, a web based course information software used by many SPH professors at www.blackboard.bu.edu.
