 serving  the  Marquette  student  body  as  well  as  the  prospective  students   who  are  considering  joining  the  university  community     The  Position     Recognizing  the  enrollment  trends  and  challenges  of  the  21st  century,  Marquette   University  has  redefined  and  expanded  enrollment  management  and  seeks  a  Vice   Provost  of  Enrollment  Management    The  Vice  Provost  will  oversee  the  offices  of   undergraduate  admissions,  financial  aid  (which  includes  student  employment)  and   the  registrar  In  collaboration  with  other  key  administrators,  the  Vice  Provost  will   develop  enrollment  targets  and  oversee  growth  and  retention  strategies  at  all  levels   of  instruction    Reporting  to  the  Provost,  the  Vice  Provost  will  serve  on  the   University  Leadership  Council  and  the  Provost’s  Cabinet  and  will  be  critical  to  the   successful  implementation  of  Marquette’s  strategic  plan  and  the  fulfillment  of  the   University-­‐wide  mission           The  range  of  responsibilities  for  the  Vice  Provost  for  Enrollment  Management  will   include  the  following:   • Implement  and  assess  a  comprehensive  enrollment  management  plan   on  the  undergraduate  levels,  including  but  not  limited  to  university-­‐  and   program-­‐level  recruitment  strategies,  prospect  development,  yield  analysis,   integrated  communications  and  marketing,  retention,  social  media,   institutional  aid  leveraging,  and  enrollment  projections;   •  Work  closely  with  the  Dean  of  the  Graduate  School  and  professional   schools  and  the  Office  of  International  Education  to  implement  and   assess  a  comprehensive  enrollment  management  plan  on  the  graduate  and   non-­‐degree  levels,  including  but  not  limited  to  university-­‐  and  program-­‐ level  recruitment  strategies,  prospect  development,  yield  analysis,   integrated  communications  and  marketing,  retention,  social  media,   institutional  aid  leveraging,  and  enrollment  projections;   •  Work  closely  with  the  Vice  Provost  for  Academic  Affairs,  the  Vice   President  for  Student  Affairs,  the  Dean  of  the  Graduate  School,  the   Academic  Deans,  and  faculty  and  staff  to  support  and  enhance  a   successful  retention  plan;   •  Align  enrollment  goals  with  the  university’s  diversity  plan;   •  Assess  and  allocate  resources  for  deployment  of  effective  student   recruitment  on  the  local,  regional  and  national  levels,  including  targeted   social  media  and  communications  as  well  as  effective  deployment  of  the   customer  relations  management  system,  Technolutions  Slate;     •  Identify  and  support  resources  to  develop  and  sustain  adequate  data   analysis  systems  to  inform  and  support  enrollment  management  processes   and  decisions;             •  Ensure  the  achievement  of  the  established  enrollment  goals  for  the   University  which  include  targeted  size,  quality,  diversity,  regional,  national   and  international  representation,  and  net  tuition  revenue;   •  Collaborate  with  the  Provost,  Vice  President  for  Finance,  Vice  President   for  Marketing  and  Communication,  Academic  Deans,  Dean  of  the   Graduate  School,  Vice  Provost  for  Strategic  and  Academic  Planning,   and  Vice  Provost  for  Academic  Affairs  to  create  effective  student   recruitment,  retention,  and  institutional  aid  initiatives;  seek  advice  and   support  from  a  high-­‐level  Enrollment  Advisory  Committee   •  Lead  an  effective  team  that  integrates  the  Offices  of  Undergraduate   Admissions,  Student  Financial  Aid,  and  the  Registrar,  and  supervise  the   directors  of  these  offices       • Oversee  the  Office  of  Student  Financial  Aid  which  is  responsible  for  over   $254  Million  annually  in  federal,  state  and  institutional  awards    The  office  is   responsible  for  compliance/reporting  with  all  federal,  state  and  institutional   awarding  policies  and  procedures    The  office  processes  all  aid  for  students   in  the  Graduate  and  Professional  programs,  as  well  as  new  and  continuing   undergraduate  students    The  Office  of  Student  Financial  Aid  oversees   • • • • • • Marquette  Central,  the  one-­‐stop  customer  service  unit  consisting  of  Bursar,   Registrar,  Financial  Aid  and  Student  Employment   Oversee  the  Office  of  the  Registrar  which  is  responsible  for  developing   and  implementing  best  practices  for  the  maintenance  and  security  of  the   academic  record,  which  includes  FERPA  training  for  the  University  and   management  of  the  following:    academic  calendars,  curriculum  process,   records  module  of  the  Student  Information  System,  Schedule  of  Classes,   Classroom  assignments,  registration,  grading,  transfer  credit,  transcripts,   diplomas/certificates,  federal  compliance/reporting,  and  internal  student   data  reporting    Strategically  plan  and  manage  undergraduate  financial  aid  allocation  and   awarding  processes;      Oversee  the  budgets  for  the  Offices  of  Undergraduate  Admissions,  Student   Financial  Aid,  and  the  Registrar      Manage  and  measure  work  to  identify  clear  objectives,  key  metrics,   benchmarking,  and  progress  reports  in  conjunction  with  the  Vice  Provost   for  Strategic  and  Academic  Planning      Foster  strategic  partnerships  with  the  faculty,  members  of  the  Athletic   Department,  Division  of  Student  Affairs,  University  Advancement,  Mission   and  Ministry;    Report  on  admission  strategies  and  results,  enrollment  trends,  and  other   key  indicators  to  the  President,  Provost,  the  Board  of  Trustees,  the  Academic   Deans  Council,  the  faculty  and  other  audiences;                  It  is  expected  that  candidates  will  present  these  qualifications  for  the  position:         • Proven  record  of  a  minimum  of  five  years  of  progressively  responsible   experience  in  enrollment  management  leadership  with  demonstrated   experience  in  a  higher  education  organization  of  comparable  size  and   complexity   • Proven  practitioner  of  best  practices  in  enrollment  management   • Strong  analytical  skills  including  familiarity  with  quantitative  modeling,   predictive  analytics  and  financial  aid  leveraging  strategies   • Demonstrated  experience  in  budgeting,  and  financial  management   • Commitment  to  an  organizational  culture  marked  by  trust,  integrity,  ethics,   professionalism,  inclusiveness,  and  respect  for  diversity  in  all  its  forms     • Evident  leadership,  motivational  and  supervisory  skills   • Exemplary  communication  skills,  written  and  verbal,  narrative  and   quantitative   • A  broad  knowledge  of  enrollment  issues  and  trends,  especially  as  they  are   related  to  a  tuition-­‐dependent  private  institution   • Clear  resonance  with  the  Catholic,  Jesuit  Mission    of  Marquette  University   and  its  Guiding  Values   • An  advanced  degree  preferred;  minimum  bachelor’s  degree  from  an   accredited  college  or  university     Desired  Characteristics     The  successful  candidate  will  be  a  forward-­‐thinking  leader  university’s  history,  with  the  arrival  of  Dr  Michael  R   Lovell  in  July  2014  as  Marquette’s  first  lay  president,  and  Dr  Daniel  J  Myers  named   provost  and  chief  academic  officer  in  July  2015    New  leadership  at  the  most  senior   levels  heralds  a  time  of  excitement  and  opportunity  for  this  distinguished  Catholic,   Jesuit  university  now  seeking  resources,  and  thrive  in  tomorrow’s  competitive  higher  education   landscape       Admissions,  Financial  Aid,  Retention  and  Marquette  Central   Marquette  received  over  20,000  applications  for  undergraduate  admission  for  fall   2015    That  number  is  likely  to  decrease  for  fall  2016  due  to  a  deliberate  change  in   search  strategies    The  university  admitted  65%  of  its  applicants  to  the   undergraduate  college  and  enrolled  a  class  of  approximately  1850  students   Marquette  utilizes  a  robust  financial  aid  awarding  model  Approximately  99%  of   undergraduate  students  are  receiving  some  type  of  financial  aid  The  average  gift   award  per  freshmen  recipient  for  fall  2015  was  over  $15,600     First-­‐to-­‐second  year  retention  rate  at  Marquette  is  high  at  90%    The  six-­‐year   graduation  rate  for  the  most  recent  cohort  was  80%    With  success  retaining   students,  Marquette  has  a  priority  of  improving  retention  further  as  part  of  a   campus  wide  effort  beginning  with  sound  admission  and  recruitment  practices  to   attract  and  enroll  students  who  will  thrive  at  Marquette     Marquette  Central  is  a  one-­‐stop-­‐shop  for  students  seeking  assistance  from  the   Bursar,  the  Financial  Aid  Office,  the  Registrar’s  Office  or  in  Student  Employment     This  important  service  center  is  under  the  purview  of  the  Vice  Provost  for   Enrollment  Management         The  University,  the  Students  and  8,300  undergraduates  and  3,100  graduate  students,   representing  every  state  and  70  foreign  countries      Of  the  incoming  Fall  2015   freshman  class  twenty-­‐nine  percent  of  the  students  are  from  Wisconsin  and  37%   are  from  Illinois    Twenty-­‐eight  percent  of  these  students  are  members  of  ethnic   minority  groups  and  22%  are  first  generation  students    Fifty-­‐three  percent  of  the   Marquette  undergraduate  student  body  is  female  and  63%  of  the  students  identify   as  Catholic       A  lively  campus  life  offering  over  275  student  organizations,  theater,  sports,  clubs,   complement  the  rich  opportunities  in  and  around  Milwaukee    Marquette’s  varsity   athletic  teams  are  known  as  the  Golden  Eagles,
