FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE OASD Announces Administrative Changes at Nature Hill Intermediate School Jason Curtis to take principal spot at Nature Hill Intermediate OCONOMOWOC, WI – May 1, 2015 The Oconomowoc Area School District (OASD) is pleased to announce that Jason Curtis, district Coordinator of Secondary Education, will become the new principal of Nature Hill Intermediate School “As we searched for a successor to Mike O’Connor, we looked for a leader of the caliber we have come to expect at Nature Hill,” said Roger Rindo, Ed.D., Superintendent of Schools “Jason has the experience and instructional background to continue to drive excellence in all areas of the school.” Jason began working at Oconomowoc High School in January 2008, after completing his student teaching at South Milwaukee High School In his six years at OHS, Jason taught AP U.S History, U.S History and World History In addition, he provided leadership to the Social Studies Department Instructional Team Representatives, served as Student Council Advisor, and as a LINK Crew Freshman Orientation coordinator During this past year, he was the district’s Coordinator of Secondary Education, helping educators and students in grades 7-12 by supporting teachers in building their professional capacity around effective teaching practices He worked collaboratively with teachers and principals to ensure that the district’s curriculum is rigorous and aligned to state standards Jason graduated from Marquette University in 2007 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education and History He will graduate with his Master’s Degree in Educational Policy and Leadership from Marquette University on May 17, 2015 “I am privileged to join the Nature Hill family,” said Curtis “It is clear to me that this culture has been created with the support of a highly dedicated administrative team and engaged parents I look forward to getting know all of the people that make Nature Hill an unrivaled learning community.” “Jason was an innovative leader in his classroom, and he brought that same skill set to his work as Coordinator of Secondary Curriculum,” said Rindo “He has a unique ability to connect with people, to listen, and to create plans with a high degree of involvement among all members of the school community These traits will serve him well as he works to continue to build on the successes at Nature Hill Intermediate School.” Pending school board approval, Jason will start his work at Nature Hill on July 1, 2015 ###
