Postdoctoral Research Fellow Position in Cardiovascular Regenerative Engineering in the Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering at Marquette University and Medical College of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, WI, USA Position Description: Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow position within the research program of Prof Brandon Tefft, PhD starting in the spring or summer of 2020 in the Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering at Marquette University and Medical College of Wisconsin The Fellow will work in the multidisciplinary field of cardiovascular regenerative engineering in a highly translational and team science environment The Fellow will be responsible for developing novel tissue engineering strategies for implantable cardiovascular devices and tissues including vascular grafts, vascular patches, cardiac valves, and/or cardiac patches These constructs will be assessed in vitro for mechanical and functional properties They will also be assessed for biological performance using large animal models Funding for this research is provided by the Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering and the Medical College of Wisconsin This funding will continue until the summer of 2023 and an extension beyond this time may be possible This research will provide significant training in developing and assessing cardiovascular regenerative engineering strategies as well as analyzing scientific data and writing scientific reports The Fellow will also gain significant training and experience to establish an independent biomedical research career Qualifications: The minimum criteria for the position are enumerated below: (1) A Ph.D degree in biomedical engineering, bioengineering, materials science, materials engineering, or a related scientific field (2) A strong background in regenerative engineering, cardiovascular physiology, cell biology, biomaterials, mechanical testing, animal models, and experimental data analysis (3) Excellent communication skills (written/spoken English) and a demonstrable leadership in publishing in peer-reviewed journals and achieving academic excellence (4) Lastly, the applicant should have a keen desire and initiative to learn, and the ability to function as part of a team Salary will be based on NIH scale commensurate with background and experience Application Process: Interested applicants should submit a single PDF file with (1) letter of intent outlining their qualifications and career objectives, (2) curriculum vitae including a list of publications, (3) contact information for three references who may be contacted, and (4) reprints of three representative publications Application package should be submitted via the following website: https://www.mcw.edu/departments/human-resources/careers by searching for requisition ID 26716
