that has a lounge and community room, a kitchen, study space, a small fitness center and laundry facilities All apartments are carpeted and furnished with a stove, refrigerator, microwave, kitchen table and chairs, extra-long twin bed(s), dresser(s), night stand(s), desk(s), living room chair, couch, coffee table, end table(s), and window blinds Rent includes all utilities plus cable television, local phone service, and wireless computer network access Laundry facilities are located on each floor Barrier free units are available Check-in/Check-out In order to accomplish room and apartment cleaning and other maintenance after the close of the winter semester, in most cases, the earliest a Summer College student can check into their apartment is Saturday, May 15 Similarly, in order to prepare the apartments for occupancy in the fall, the latest a student may check out is Sunday, August (or the day after summer classes end) University Computer Network Services The apartments are equipped with a wireless network system, so you will be able to connect your laptop or desktop to the University’s network and the internet anywhere in your apartment without making a determine at its discretion that past behavior and/or criminal activity on the part of an applicant for University housing is such that the interests of the University, students, and/or the applicant would be best served if the applicant was not permitted to live on campus There are three questions in this regard on the application A student who answers ‘yes’ to any of these questions will be subject to a background check and must send a written statement of relevant facts with appropriate documentation from either the school or the court that adjudicated the charges to the Assistant Director of Housing Operations, 3502 C.B Hedgcock, Northern Michigan University, Marquette, MI 49855-5301 no later than 10 days after submitting the housing application and prior to moving into University housing If any ‘no’ answer changes to ‘yes’ after the application is submitted, but prior to the applicant’s moving into University housing, the student must submit the statement of relevant facts within three days of the event(s) which resulted in the change and prior to moving into University housing The applicant’s statement and documentation will be handled confidentially A student who answers ‘yes’ to any of these questions will not be assigned to University housing until a determination of the applicant’s eligibility is made following the recommendation from the background check, or a review of the provided statement and documentation by the Director of Housing and Residence Life or a committee consisting of one representative each from the Housing and Residence Life Office, the Admissions Office, the Dean of Students Office, and the Police Department The student will be notified of the decision in writing Any false statement in this regard may lead to a rejection of the single student apartment application or immediate termination of the student’s housing contract Roommate Assignment The Housing and Residence Life Office will make every effort to accommodate a specific roommate preference if you are requesting a multiple person apartment without a specific roommate preference Note that students requesting a specific roommate must both request the other person on their application Alcoholic Beverages In accordance with applicable University policies, the possession and consumption of alcohol is permitted in Woodland Park apartments, and the TV lounge under certain circumstances for those students who are 21 years of age or older Pets Pets, except fish, are prohibited in University residence halls and apartments Fish tanks, one
