Center helps students identify specific strategies to effectively accomplish assigned tasks and to help students become effective writers One strategy that has proven most effective is asking students mechanical problems, the Center has available computer assisted programs which allow students numerous practice opportunities and the opportunity to work at their own pace Still, other students may need individualized one-on-one assistance In this instance, Writing Center instructors and tutors are available to conference with students and to assist them in revising drafts and in recognizing grammatical and mechanical deficiencies with greater ease and success Teaching students to edit their own work is just one method of helping students become independent thinkers and writers 2.
