89 Screening in Pediatric and Congenital Cardiac Disease Joyce T Johnson, Joseph A Camarda, Gregory Webster, Ahmad Sami Chaouki, Guilherme Baptista De Faria, Amanda M Perak, Kiona Allen, Bradley S Marino, Stuart Berger Abstract This chapter addresses state-of-the-art screening for several forms of pediatric heart disease It covers topics that include fetal echocardiographic screening, neonatal pulse oximetry screening for critical congenital heart disease, screening for entities that are associated with sudden cardiac death, screening for atherosclerotic cardiovascular risk factors, and neurodevelopmental screening Admittedly several of these entities are currently or have previously been somewhat controversial However, the intent of all these screening endeavors is to identify potentially critical and ultimately at-risk disease well before it might become critical The resources needed and the nuances of each of these screening strategies are discussed in great detail to update readers on specific entities and the strategies and presumed outcomes of each screening strategy We recognize that data will continue to be accumulated and refined, as will the screening strategies, to continue to optimize the best outcomes that might be generated by these strategies Our aim is to continue to advocate for the best strategies that lead to the lowest rates of morbidity and mortality Keywords screening; prevention; critical heart disease; lipids; sudden cardiac death; sudden cardiac arrest ...Screening in Pediatric and Congenital Cardiac Disease Joyce T Johnson, Joseph A Camarda, Gregory Webster, Ahmad Sami Chaouki,...
