Outline of eLearning Design and Development Process The TTU Worldwide eLearning goal for the online course design and development process is to produce a quality and compliant online course Quality is defined as meeting the standards of the Modified 2012 TLPDC Online Course Quality Rubric – meeting the rubric standards has been shown to result in high learner achievement of stated course objectives Compliance is defined as meeting ADA and copyright regulations and guidelines Analysis Phase week The initial meeting should be in-person and occur after the questionnaire has been completed • Complete Questionnaire • Provide syllabus (if exists) • Attend initial meeting Design Phase 1-3 Months The design phase should occur in four to six in-person meetings with typically one week but no more than two weeks in-between each meeting • Complete Course Plan – one to four weeks • Complete Accessibility in a Nutshell training at some point during this phase • Complete Module Plans – three to eight weeks Development Phase 4-6 Months The Course Developer will be released during this phase to work on their own to obtain a Blackboard course shell and develop content in the course shell In-person meetings may be held at the request of the Course Developer • Develop first content module – four weeks • Develop additional modules and welcome and getting started content– two to four months • Complete content development – one to two weeks • Update syllabus – one to two weeks Review Phase 1-2 Months The review phase includes a pre-review by the Instructional Designer and Course Developer and then moves onto a formal review by a separate review team • Course Developer and Instructional Designer conduct pre-review – one to two weeks • Course Developer submits by email a request for formal review • Course is reviewed – two to four weeks • Course Developer completes any required course improvements – one to four weeks • Course is approved This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International License 1|Page
