Physiological states will be reviewed, normal infant sleep patterns will be identified and engagement of the family will be explored Case studies will highlight the fussy baby, poor weight gain, reflux and the sleepy baby By helping parents understand baby behavior, professionals will enable parents to provide appropriate breastfeeding assistance OBJECTIVES: *Recognize infant’s physiological During that time she has worked in the maternal and child health arena For the past 29 years Debbie has worked as a Perinatal Outreach Educator at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital Ms Schy has been an IBCLC since 1994 working with tens of thousands of clients in a variety of settings – private practice, hospital, outpatient, home health, classes, pre and postnatal and corporate programs Debbie has also been a primary investigator in several research studies involving looking at factors that help mothers to continue breastfeeding, using various breast pumps and milk production as well as a study looking at factors that influence milk production when mothers and babies are separated Debbie was a founding member of the Chicago Area Breastfeeding Coalition and is currently the co-chair This organization provides continuing education for all those in the breastfeeding community as well as the annual “Breastfeeding Friendly Primary Care Provider “award She has also been honored as the March of Dimes Recipient of the Jonas Salk Health Leadership Award for Nursing The Teaching Baby Behavior course was developed by The UC Davis Human Lactation Center where Debbie became a trainer This program was developed in response to the Fit WIC Baby Behavior Study which was a joint venture of California WIC and University of California Davis Enabling parents to understand baby behavior will
