This is a nationwide need-based merit scholarship Recipients must graduate from a public high school located in a county in the US having fewer than 50,000 residents The scholarship provides up to $6,000 each semester for up to consecutive semesters Over 300 new scholarships are awarded each year If you receive this scholarship, you must graduate college within four years, must achieve a 3.0 GPA each semester, and maintain a 3.25 CGPA after the first semester, must complete thirty on-campus credit hours each academic year, excluding summer school, and must fulfill ALL Recipient Responsibilities and attend the free workshop in July each year, and recipients must work a minimum of 240 hours in the twelve months prior to the start of each academic year of college To be eligible, you must be a citizen of the US, must attend a public high school, must have achieved a 3.5 CGPA or higher, must score 23 or higher on the ACT or 1150 or higher on the SAT, must enroll in an eligible four college or university the fall semester following high school graduation (most NC colleges are eligible), must work 240 hours in the twelve months prior to the start of each academic year of college, must complete the FAFSA in 2018 and have an EFC less than $6,500, must apply for eligible Federal and State grants, and must not have been convicted of a felony Historically, about one-third of eligible applicants are awarded scholarships Go to www.hsfmo.org to apply Deadline: November 15, 2018 Cheatham-White Scholarship - Students may nominate themselves for this prestigious scholarship To be eligible, you must have applied and be a competitive student for admission at A&T by the deadline, be a US citizen, be on course to graduate from high school this spring, have a minimum 4.0 or higher weighted cumulative GPA, have a minimum score of 1280 on the SAT or 28 on the ACT, show exceptional qualities of character and leadership, be significantly involved in extracurricular activities, and demonstrate a strong commitment to service Go to https://www.ncat.edu/academic/hono rs/cheatham-white/index.html to find the self-nominating form Deadline: November 15, 2018 Black Business Expo Scholarship – The Black Business Expo is sponsoring eight entrepreneurship scholarships ranging from laptop computers to $1,000 for graduating seniors in NC These scholarships are exclusively reserved for African-Americans or American Indians/Alaska Natives (must be from a federally recognized tribe) You must be an AfricanAmerican or American Indian/Alaska Native, a US citizen, a graduating senior, have already applied for or accepted by a or 4- year college, be majoring in a stipulated business field, and be already volunteering in the community An essay and a recommendation letter are required See Mrs Huff for an application Deadline: November 20, 2018 GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program – The GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program awards about 18 college-bound students with a $10,000 renewable scholarship, a total of $40,000 Students must demonstrate exemplary leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship www.reaganfoundation.org/scholarships to apply Deadline: January 4, 2019 U.S Army ROTC 4-Year College Scholarship – Go to www.goarmy.com/rotc for information Elon University Odyssey Program – This program connects students in the freshman class with need-based scholarships The scholarships range in value from $30,000 to $48,000 over four years and include grants up to $4,000 for global study, internships, service, research, or leadership Go to www.elon.edu/appy Deadline: January 10, 2019 North Carolina Hispanic College Fund – This scholarship fund will award scholarship funds worth between $500 and $2,500 to deserving and talented Hispanic youth in North Carolina A minimum 2.5 GPA is required and a personal statement Go to www.thencshp.org/programs/nchispanic-college-fund/ to download an application Deadline: January 15, 2019 Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship – Up to a $30,000 scholarship to attend a four-year college or university You must be a graduating minority high school senior, show leadership potential, present evidence of financial need, be a US citizen, and have a minimum SAT score of 1000 on the math and critical reading or a composite ACT score of 22 Go to www.jackierobinson.org for the online application and more information Deadline: February 1, 2019 Abbott and Fenner Scholarship Program – Up to $1,000 will be awarded to the winner(s) Students will submit an essay on the topic that appears on the scholarship page of their website To apply go to: www.abbottandfenner.com/scholar ships.php Deadline: June 14, 2019 Acceptance Alert Seniors, please let us know when you have been accepted 2018-19 SAT Test Dates Nov Send by Oct Dec Send by Nov Mar Send by Feb May Send by April June Send by May 2018-19 ACT Test Dates Dec Send by Nov Feb Send by Jan 11 April 13 Send by March June Send by May July 13 Send by June 14 What Are Colleges Looking For?
