Revised 9/17/2010 University of Massachusetts Student Government Association Prospective RSO Checklist Your RSO Application Packet must include the following: Constitution: Name of Organization Mission Statement Process for establishing voting membership (min number of meetings etc.) Statement of Non-Discrimination signed by the officers Statement of Free Speech/Expression Process for voting by membership Clear procedure for conducting meetings and planning activities Reasonable procedure for resolving disputes among members Governance and Officer Duties Hierarchal Structure Officers must be undergraduate and democratically elected Outline of responsibilities Designate who has signature responsibility (President and Treasurer usually) Process for election and nominations Process for removal of an officer Amendments Section Approval of 50% + majority vote submitted to the Sec of the Registry Ratification of the Constitution Shall be voted on upon majority vote of the organization, approved by the Sec of Registry, and a copy must be made available to all members Page of Revised 9/17/2010 Statement of Future Goals Reason why RSO Status is Necessary Initial Membership Roster University of Massachusetts-Amherst students are the only voting members Also, membership should be open to all of the 5-college community, their dependents, staff, and alumni (Note: in order to be an RSO, you must have ten (10) active members AT ALL TIMES, 2/3 of which must be fee paying University of Massachusetts-Amherst students and they cannot all be seniors) Please attach the following information for all officers within the Executive Board, as well as all of the committed members of the RSO (list must total at least ten (10) undergraduate students) on a separate sheet of paper: Names Addresses E-mails Student Identification Numbers Telephone Numbers *Please also indicate which member will be the primary liaison to the SGA Note: An RSO will not be approved unless there is a clear contingency plan in place to ensure that the organization continues The goal of every RSO should be to become a long standing organization on campus and groups with solely short term goals will not be approved Completed packets should be submitted to the SGA Secretary of the Registry mailbox located in the SGA office, Student Union room 420 no later than October 15, 2010 For more information, please contact: sga.registry@stuaf.umass.edu or stop into the CSD Resource Room located off of the main lobby of the Student Union building room 314 Tyler Langlais Secretary of the Registry Student Government Association Page of
