partial grants for less than 25 hours will not be given Unclaimed volunteer hours carry over from year to year, but an employee is still only eligible for two grants per fiscal year To support employee teambuilding volunteer activities, teams are eligible for Dollars for Doers grants Teams must consist of at least three employees/retirees engaged in joint volunteering For every 25 cumulative hours served by the team, the eligible organization will receive a $500 grant All hours must be served at the same eligible non-profit during the Foundation fiscal year, but can take place over multiple volunteer events For example if 40 employees volunteered together as a team for hours one afternoon, their cumulative hours would total 120 Divided by 25, this team is eligible for grants of $500 for a total of $2,000 Eligible Institutions can receive a maximum of $10,000 in Dollars for Doers grants per Foundation fiscal year Definition of Volunteering Campbell follows the Corporate Volunteer Reporting Standards v2.0, which were developed by the Corporate Community Involvement Summit, a coalition of nonprofit organizations For an activity to be counted as volunteering and thus eligible for Dollars for Doers grants, the following criteria must be met: o The activity must be voluntary and non-compensated In other words, the activity must be conducted by choice, without monetary reward (except that an employee volunteering during work hours can receive his/her regular pay from Campbell), and for the benefit of public good o The activity must benefit a nonprofit organization that meets the eligibility criteria provided above o The activity must constitute a direct service to the eligible institution In other words, the activity performed needs, in and of itself, to be value added to the organization, such as mentoring, serving meals or picking up trash Examples of activities that are not value added to the organization and, therefore, are ineligible for grants include: • Traveling to and from volunteer projects • Contributing funds or goods (e.g cans of soup or an old cell phone) • Attending a fundraising banquet (unless one helps organize or manage event) • Walking in a walkathon or dancing in a dance-a-thon o The activity must be performed by Campbell employees or retirees While inviting family, friends, customers and others who are not employees/retirees of Campbell to volunteer is encouraged, their volunteer hours are not eligible for Dollars for Does grants Campbell Soup Company and the Campbell Soup Foundation reserve the right to modify or discontinue the Dollars for Doers program at any time The interpretation, application, and administration of the Dollars for Doers program shall be determined by Campbell Soup Company and the Campbell Soup Foundation and their decisions shall be final Q&A I am participating in a fundraising walk for a local charity Am I eligible to receive a Dollars for Doers grant for that charity? In order to be eligible for a Dollars for Doers grant, you must help organize or manage the event For example, being part of the planning committee for the event or managing a specific part of the walk qualifies, but simply walking as part of a larger team or coordinating a walk team of coworkers, friends or family does not My departmental team does not volunteer together but we switch off days to tutoring at a local Boys and Girls Club Are we eligible to earn a team grant for the Boys and Girls Club? Yes, this team is eligible to earn a grant for the Boys and Girls Club Team volunteering should be done together when possible However, in the case of an ongoing volunteer activity in which volunteers are needed more frequently in smaller numbers, hours will be calculated on a cumulative basis amongst all the employees participating in the activity My team is building a playground at a local public school Are we eligible to earn a team grant for the public school? Only Section 501(c)(3) organizations are eligible to receive a grants from the Campbell Soup Foundation Public schools not have 501(c)(3) status However, while a grant cannot be given directly to a public school, if the school is partners with a 501(c)(3) organization to assist them with its effort such as Kaboom!, a national non-profit that builds playgrounds across the U.S., Kaboom! would be eligible to receive a Dollars for Doers grant for the activity When must the volunteering take place in order to qualify for a Dollars for Doers grant? Unclaimed volunteer hours carry over from fiscal year to fiscal year, but an individual employee is still only eligible for two grants per Foundation fiscal year (ending June 30) For example, if you volunteered for 35 hours this year and claimed one DFD grant, then you can carry over 10 hours to the next fiscal year For team grants, all cumulative hours must be served in a Foundation fiscal year These hours not rollover Do all my volunteer hours have to be served at the same organization? In order to qualify for a Dollars for Doers grant, all 25 hours must be served at the same organization These hours may be completed over several visits To qualify for a second grant in the Foundation fiscal year, an employee/retiree may volunteer another 25 hours at a different organization My team just volunteered at the Food Bank, but the Food Bank did not receive a grant because the organization’s grant maximum had already been met What does this mean? In order to support as many organizations as possible, the Campbell Soup Foundation has imposed a $10,000 grant limit for each Eligible Institution that receives Dollars for Doers grants This limit allows the Foundation to support a variety of different Eligible Institutions and volunteer activities It also protects Eligible Institutions who cannot receive more than a certain percentage of annual operating funding from one source The Foundation has no control over when these maximums will be met by certain organizations When possible, the Foundation will inform employees when a specific Eligible Institution has met the grant maximum I personally donated goods and furniture to a local non-profit Do I qualify for a Dollars for Doers grant? The act of simply giving goods such as food, furniture, or computers does not qualify for a grant If the employee/retiree went to the organization to cook the food he/she donated or set up the furniture or computers donated, then the institution may be eligible to receive a Dollars for Doers grant I volunteer at my local YMCA on my own and with a team from Campbell Am I eligible for individual grants if I also volunteer with the Campbell team? Yes, both an employee's individual hours and team hours qualify for grants An individual employee is eligible to receive up to two grants per Foundation fiscal year 25 hours per $500 grant Every eligible employee also is able to participate in team activities A team still has to serve a cumulative 25 hours with an Eligible Institution in order to qualify for funding I serve on a committee that puts together fundraisers for the United Way campaign at the Sacramento plant Does my time qualify for a Dollars for Doers grant? If the employee’s hours are spent managing a fundraiser, even if it is on-site, those hours qualify for a Dollars for Doers grant Employees who simply participate in the fundraising activity at that location cannot count those hours toward a Dollars for Doers grant I currently serve as a board member of a local non-profit organization Do my hours count towards a Dollars for Doers grant? So long as the non-profit organization is deemed an Eligible Institution and you are not paid for your service as a board member, you would be considered a volunteer and, therefore, eligible to receive a Dollars for Doers grant for the Eligible Institution My team is working on painting an entire building as a team volunteer project Is there a way to receive the Dollars for Doers grant before the project to pay for the supplies? Grants for team projects can be received before the service is rendered on a case by case basis If the funding is needed for supplies for the project, a grant can be administered ahead of time This will be determined by the Campbell Soup Foundation and not all requests are guaranteed to be granted The Dollars for Doers program was rolled out at my location for the first time in April of 2009 Do my volunteer hours prior to April count for a grant? No, these hours not qualify Grant-qualifying hours will start to be tracked beginning with the program launch at your location My team volunteered 120 hours, but only received $2,000 in grant money Shouldn’t we have received $2,400? No, team grant money is counted by every completed block of 25 hours Since 120 hours works out to 4.8 grants, the group is only eligible to receive grants of $500 each or $2,000 total ...
