SCHEME OF PROGRAMME DD/MM/YY (1) Arrival to Mumbai(Int Airport)-Aurangabad-Buldana ~ 15-16/07/2013 (2) Visit to cooperative societies and farmer’s groups ~ 17/07/2013 (3) Asia Pacific Co-operative Youth Forum ~ 18/07/2013 (4) 6th Meeting {Election}of the ICA Committee on Youth Cooperation ~ (5) Recreational Trip to Ajanta Caves (ancient civilisation and culture) ~ (6) Departure from Buldana-Aurangabad-Mumbai-Respective Countries~ 19/07/2013 20/07/2013 21/07/2013 Asia Pacific Co-operative Youth Forum - Organised by ICYAP & Buldana Urban Co-operative Credit Society Ltd Background Information: The ICA Committee on Youth Co-operation in Asia Pacific (ICYAP) operates under its Constitution and the guidelines of the ICA Regional Assembly for co-operative development in Asia and the Pacific While honouring its mandate to meet once a year and to draw up the committee plan for the period of 2013-2016, its members who were nominated by ICA members at the time of the 10th Regional Assembly of ICA Asia Pacific, opted to meet at Buldhana, Maharashtra-India during 2013 To maximise the opportunity of the meeting of International delegates and cooperative practitioners with this Meeting, an initiative in form of the Asia Pacific Co-operative Youth Forum is being organised on 18 July, 2013 in collaboration with Buldana Urban Co-operative Credit Societyin Buldana, Maharashtra Governing Documents: The ICA Blue print for the Co-operative Decade (adopted in Manchester2012) and the ICA Strategic Objectives (Adopted in Kobe-2012) for 2013-2016 play a vital role in the committee’s future actions and plans It is noted here that the strategic groups such as women and youth are agents of change for the larger benefit of the world order given their comparative unavailability in mainstream policymaking in the past The marginalised sections are seen to be promoted today by the international community and the inevitable reason for this is the importance given to the notion of inclusive growth by the global leadership The Asia Pacific Cooperative Youth Forum aims to attract deliberations in identifying Youth as a strategic group/section/community in co-operatives and establishing a platform for exchange of ideas and solutions for the development of co-operatives The work-strategy is related to the directives under the ICA Cooperative Blueprint and the ICA Strategic Objectives (2013-2016); See Illustration fig:1 Asia Pacific Co-operative Youth Forum - Organised by ICYAP & Buldana Urban Co-operative Credit Society Ltd The focal areas of youth intervention vis a vis the Cooperative Decade in consonance with the ICA S.O (2013-16) are listed below and explained in form of the diagram in fig:1  S.O.7 Promote cultural exchanges of youth cooperators  S.O Collect and disseminate ‘Cooperative Story’ in creating public awareness on cooperative and its business model  S.O.5 Promote the technical exchanges and assistances in IT technology in the forms of workshop and training SUB FOCAL AREAS  S.O 4: Promote ‘Cooperative trade’ strategically by the modes of ‘Fair trade’ and ‘B to B trade platform’ through Internet  S.O Transfer the technical and managerial know-how, especially in the business areas of ‘Resource Recycling’ and ‘ Renewable Energy’ businesses  S.O.10 Promote and deliver of ‘.coop’ domain and to create influential messages and media advocacies on cooperative and its business model S.O.- ICA AP Strategic Objective Asia Pacific Co-operative Youth Forum Rationale and Theme “Future Challenges for Youth as a Strategic Group for Co-operative Development” The importance of Information technology and the easy transfer of knowledge have been realised by the co-operative movement in the previous decade The co-operative Principles lay down the value attached to education and training and the benefits of co-operation among co-operatives The ICA AP Youth Workshop in 2011 at the Institute of Co-operative Management in Kannur often hailed as the ‘Rochdale of the east’, on the theme - Co-operative Entrepreneurship & Green Innovations saw a participation of over 100 students and 25 staff members from co-operative institutions along with ICYAP Members A session on Co-operative entrepreneurship was given by Prof Yashwanth Dongre (of the ICA Committee on Univ Campus Cooperatives) and a session on ‘Knowledge Platforms- UN Solution Exchange Community’ was taken by Dr R.K Jalan (Resource Person-United Nations Development Programme) The subsequent meetings of the ICA Committee on youth took place on the internet from the ICA AP Business Office in Singapore and a strategic plan to develop the skills and knowledge of the cooperative youth in IT technology was adopted It is the mandate of ICYAP to continue exploring such avenues and make them available to a large section of youth associated with the co-operative sector and organise an internet platform based on the so called ‘Business Solutions’ This was initiated at the th Meeting by the Secretariat and the same will be given expert opinion on by the UNDP at the Asia Pacific Co-operative Youth Forum A relationship between ICYAP and UNDP will be pursued further as a strategy at the th Meeting A list of speakers as their topics is as hereunder: Asia Pacific Co-operative Youth Forum - Organised by ICYAP & Buldana Urban Co-operative Credit Society Ltd Speaker Ms Pratibha Sharma Assistant Business Manager, Solid Waste Collection and Handling[SWACH] Plus Dr Ramesh K Jalan Resource Person & Moderator, Climate Change community, Solution Exchange, United Nations Development Fund Background Theme Pratibha has completed an MA in Social Work from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, with a specialization in women centered social work She also holds a B.Tech degree from National Institute of Technology, Surat Keenly interested in working with women waste pickers, she joined SWaCH in January 2013 as Assistant Business Manager for SWaCH Her primary responsibilities currently involve Business Expansion of various activities under SWaCH Plus (like E-waste, ST Dispo Bags, V-Collect, Composting, and other SWaCH products), to be able to strengthen existing co-operative's activities and also create new business opportunities towards Cooperative's sustainable future CASE STUDY OF Dr Ramesh Jalan has over 25 years of experience in the environment, sustainable development and climate change sector He holds a PhD in Municipal Solid Waste Management from Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi, India; 20°30’ E) are situated at a distance of 107 km north of Aurangabad, the district headquarters The caves attained the name from a nearby village named Ajanta located about 12 km These caves were discovered by an Army Officer in the Madras Regiment of the British Army in 1819 during one of his hunting expeditions Instantly the discovery became very famous and Ajanta attained a very important tourist destination in the world The caves, famous for its murals, are the finest surviving examples of Indian art, particularly painting The world famous paintings at Ajanta also fall into two broad phases The earliest is noticed in the form of fragmentary specimens in cave nos & 10, which are datable to second century B.C The headgear and other ornaments of the images in these paintings resemble the bas-relief sculpture of Sanchi and Bharhut The second phase of paintings started around 5th – 6th centuries A.D and continued for the next two centuries The specimen of these exemplary paintings of Vakataka period could be noticed in cave nos 1, 2, 16 and 17 The variation in style and execution in these paintings also are noticed, mainly due to different authors of them A decline in the execution is also noticed in some paintings as indicated by some rigid, mechanical and lifeless figures of Buddha in some later period paintings The main theme of the paintings is the depiction of various Jataka stories, different incidents associated with the life of Buddha, and the contemporary events and social life also The ceiling decoration invariably consists of decorative patterns, geometrical as well as floral Weather & Wellness July is a humid month with the average temperature ranging between 29°C and 37 °C and with the maximum soaring to around 39°C It is suggested the participants carry umbrellas and other important things and mention any allergies before hand to the secretariat A doctor is available for any emergencies Asia Pacific Co-operative Youth Forum - Organised by ICYAP & Buldana Urban Co-operative Credit Society Ltd 12 Prayer Room & Special Food: Given the Fasting Month , There will be a proper Prayer Room set up at the Venue and the food will not serve Beef or Pork and requests for Halal food will be heeded Venue, Accommodation & Registration The Youth Forum and the 6th Meeting will be held in Buldana, Maharashtra and is 140 Km from Aurangabad Airport International participants must take a flight to Mumbai International Airport and take a connecting flight to Aurangabad Airport The committee can bulk book tickets for all members from Mumbai-Aurangabad-Mumbai (150 USD Approx) and individual members can reimburse the committee upon arrival Resource Persons will be given travel and accommodation allowance by the Forum Partner (BUCCS) under a duly signed terms of reference All arrangements including Transport from Airport (Aurangabad), food and accommodation will be made for all members by the BUCCS The Members and Resource persons will have register by 25/06/2013 in the simple format given below and emailing it at Santosh@icaroap.coop Name & Passport number Member/Resource Person/Guest Arrival Date and Flight Number Departure Date and Flight Number Contact details (email & telephone) _ Asia Pacific Co-operative Youth Forum - Organised by ICYAP & Buldana Urban Co-operative Credit Society Ltd 13 TERMS OF REFERENCE (Only for documentation purposes) In the Joint Organisation of 6th Meeting of the ICA Committee on Youth for Asia Pacific from 17 – 21 July, 2013 in Buldana, Maharastra Between Through Dr Chan Ho Choi (Honorary ICYAP member and Regional Director & Buldana Urban Credit Cooperative Society… Through Dr Sukhesh Zamwar (ICYAP member and MD, BUCCS) The undersigned herewith agree ICA Committee on Youth for Asia Pacific … That, Youth has been identified as a strategic area of cooperative development in conformity with the Global Cooperative Day theme in 2011 (Youth: The future of cooperative enterprise) 2012 was celebrated widely with great fervour and the International cooperative year opened many avenues for international joint efforts for the development of social and economic security among vulnerable groups That, the ICA Committee on Youth in Asia Pacific (ICYAP) has functioned a platform that translates the general will of the ICA Regional Assembly and aims to promote youth involvement in cooperatives That, the Cooperative Youth Forum is being organised to maximise the meeting of committee members and that the 6th ICA Meeting shall have no involvement from BUCCS apart from logistical assistance considering the convenience of ICYAP members That, costs towards Invitation, Airport Shuttle and Accommodation (F&B) in case of members;
