INTRODUCTION : With dearest possession of landscape and people, Vietnam increasingly asserted itself about field of Tourism and Hospitality all over the world Vietnam has become a attracted destination for international tourists Before travelling 21 days tour, I always think Saigon is the best city of Vietnam, but I was wrong, each city has its own beauty and Vietnam is a big treasure that nature decorate Now, I study in Tourism and Hospitality of Huflit University and luckily I experienced all throughout the country of Vietnam in the first year university , it let me define the targets and aims I choose this sector With a chance to practice 21 days, I studied more about the country I live, visiting the historical monuments from South to North, passing the temples, churches and surveying all the landscape of Vietnam, and I’m stayed motels, homestays and the hotels from stars to stars across the country On the road, the tour guide taught me how to be a tour guide, how to realize the tourist’s feeling, how to know what tourists want and need , how to organize a tour , how to arrange the schedule for tourists and how to make a presentation about each destinations During the trip, I had in two positions, first is a tourist, second is a tour guide to be felt in many different directions When travelling, I realize my knowledge for my sector is so little, and I always learn more from my tour guide, find out by myself to improve myself In addition, I lived with my friends, I learned a lot from them, we shared the sadness, joy, help each other as a true family And finally I want to thank all the teachers of Tourism and Hospitality’s Huflit and all of staff’s Viet Sky Company They always the best things for us and help us that we completed and successful tour This report aims to show the guiding methods, designing and managing tour methods, tour guide staff and tourism product management, the cooperative relationship between travel company and other sections in tourism industry A - THE GUIDING METHODS ON ROUTE, AT DESTINATIONS AND DURING SHOPPING OR VISITING PLACES During each trip, the trip is the most basic activities of tourists because of the authentic needs of tourists are travelling Any tourist would want to come the places where reflect the thickness culture and green nature Visiting be understood as an organized activity, a person guide or lead a individual or a group to the places which is a vestige, a island, a forest … to observe, examine, hear the explanations, acquire new knowledge to help expand their understanding of the world around them Guiding method on route : When going to a tour, you will have many choices for transportation to go to somewhere But about domestic tourism, most of people will take their time for a bus or a coach because people travelling by bus or by coach, the tour guides will easily present the places and the tourists are able to take in more scenes If you want a tour guide, you should have the following skills : - - - Firstly, before you lead a delegation, you have to clear the information of each destination and important places along the way to exactly present to tourists Places to visit of the journey must be arranged and reasonable science And, when leading and presenting on route, the tour guide must be discussed in advance with the driver Secondly, starting a trip or after having breakfast or checking out, the tour guide must make sure the number of passengers and passengers ’s luggage on your car carefully Next, the tour guide also must observe and appreciate passengers ’s health as well as passenger sentiment when moving on your transportation And we let tourists know tour program of that day, then begin our speech Thirdly, these are the basic skill that all tour guides must have When a tour guide is on the coach are how we stand, sit, hang micro and talk On the road, the coach move fast and sometimes passing places very bumpy, the car is very shock, it makes you will tumbling forward, and you will be distracted, nervous and you can’t present confidently So how can you stand and begin presentation? Standing, sitting on the coach must be serious and solid Avoid staggered to tourists from fear to hear presentation ‘s tour guide We should stand at the second seat with our back Because we have to stand along the road we travel, so we will feel tired Let’s your back against the second seat will make you feel better Then we should test your micro Easy way to it is say “ 1,2,3” and not touching or blowing the micro because it makes the tourist feel annoy Absolutely not rush too early overs as if doing so will make tourists feel like being taught Therefore tour guide to create the impression of comfort for tourists Maybe start with a song, causing tourists ‘s confidence by giving a request would help if within the guidelines Then giving gift ( like a hat, water… ) for tourist And start a presentation, the content must be coherent, inspiring alternating presentations are fun stories , games… to avoid tourist sleepy and focus on my presentation Just about hours is for a place to stay for tourists to rest A tour guide who has enough skills and know what to on route can make good impression to tourist It can show how professional you are Guiding methods at destination : Not like on route, at destination, you must the following : - - Before coming attractions from 10 to 15 minutes, the tour guides must notify tourists of upcoming attractions, touring time how long, where tourists appointment, toilet anywhere … make careful recommendations to tourists about their property, money and upon entering the sanctuary, the tourists are not noisy or wearing shoes… Login to attractions, tour guides choose appropriate location favorable for themsemseselves and for the tourists to start notes While overs avoid noise and obstruct other group The contents must be clear, coherent, convincing and concise There are options to notes : from outside to inside and from inside to outside, but people often use the notes from outside to inside Either way, tour guides have been trying to answer questions from tourists about the attractions - - If the attraction has local guides , tour guide just tell some information about the attraction, but general, not details, the local guides will tell to tourists the main information And then, remember tipping the local tour guides and continue the trip And the tour guide must always remember to attention to your tourists , especially when delegations including children After that the tour guide let tourists take some photo or buy some souvenirs … Then we move another places Guiding when going shopping : Maybe, souvenirs is very important for a tour, it’s a gift, a special things that the tourist give for their family, friends … or there are the things they like That’s a reason why when design a tour, tour operators must have one shopping place The tour guide should tell all information about : what they can buy in there, the reasonable price, how to buy the good things Then let the tourists buy anything they like The tour guide remind tourists go back the coach on time , but usually guides to give tourists plenty of time to shop , no need to hurry After shopping, tourists come back to their seat We not start our talk immediately Because after shopping, they have a lot of things to talk about together We just give them around 15 – 30 minutes to it That is also our break time All these skills will help you how to become a tour guide Please great things for your tourists B - DESIGNING METHODS OF LONG DAY’S TOUR, TOUR MANAGEMENT, TOUR GUIDE AND TOURISM PRODUCT MANAGEMENT Designing methods of long day’s tour: What is the tourism program? - - Tourism Program is scheduled, service and price were predetermined program for tourist trip from origin to endpoint The criterion classify tourism program : + Based on the origin of the generation + Based on price + Based on the content and purpose of trip + Based on constituent services and the degree of dependence of consumption Tourism Program must ensure the following requirements : + Possibility + Responding to market demand + Consistent with the resources of tour operator + Atractive The process of designing the program long road trip : - - Research market demand Research ability satisfaction of tour operator + Attraction + The ability of Travel Company + The ability of supply transport services + The ability of supply accommodation + The ability of supply food and beverage + The ability of supply shopping , entertainment Building purpose and ideas for program Building basic itineraries Building alternative transportation Building alternative accommodation , food and beverage Adjustments, additional tourism program - - - - Identify prices and selling prices of tour Building regulations Complete tourism program Managing tour guide and tourism product: It is not easy to manage people, to make them please when working for us The main thing is “treat them by your heart”, listen to them and try our best to understand their respect As a manager, we should take care to our tour guides by calling to talk to them about the tour they are guiding They will be happy when they take care them and that make them please to guide your guest And now, you wonder that how we take care our guest A tourism destination needs a good product portfolio strategy to be able to develop tourism and specialise the existing supply of the destination The portfolio should be based on the existing attractions and resources, but it should also take into account the essential infrastructures, facilities and services needed to make the development come true During the process other criteria will be needed to help in the accurate evaluation of the real success potential of the different products These criteria can be economic, social, cultural, environmental or political, among others Some examples can be the market potential assigned to the product, the image creation and positioning of a destination, the attractiveness of public or private investment, the foreseen level of investment, the expected results, the social cost-effectiveness of the demonstration effect that can mean the creation of new products Following this idea, the creation of a complementary supply can help in the definition of an adequate product portfolio for a destination But, always bearing in mind a clear and coherent development strategy that will try to specialize the services, to be able to be differentiated from the competition, and taking into account the needs of the different actors present through the process of development and creation of new products C - THE ROLE OF TOUR GUIDE Tour guides are referred as tourist guides in some country A tour guide is a person who guides the visitors in the language of their choice He leads a group of people around the museum, town, and important venue Guides are representative of the cities for which they are qualified and they interpret the culture and heritage of the area Guide helps travelers to understand the culture of the region and the way of life its inhabitants On one hand their role is to promote the cultural and natural heritage and on other hand making the visitors aware of its importance Guide provides full information about the features and history of the location As the importance of places is known by the guide, he will educate and narrates you all the local stories, history and culture as and when the location comes The importance is placed on the guide's knowledge; he will try his best to explain you in language you know While traveling to next location guide entertain you, and gives you relevant information about the place where you will land up next On visiting any historical place, a guide with complete knowledge of that place is required So that he narrate the history of that place in detail If you move without a guide you will not come to know anything about the place and you will not understand what you are seeing and what does it means Guide answers all your questions and you can gain lot of knowledge from him Many times it happens that we ignore small things, but always a small thing contains a big story, so only guide can educate us about the place Before going for a trip you can ask your friends and relatives about the place who have been there But to get the whole insight information it is better to appoint a guide A guide helps you to know about the climatic condition, culture, language, specialty of the place and also helps us to buy the famous thing available there The importance of tour guide is only understood by those who had a unplanned tour The unplanned tour can put you in to a very critical circumstance that your enjoyable trip can go into a worst nightmare D – THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN TOURISM AND OTHER SECTIONS IN HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY This table will show summary the relationship between tourism and other sections in hospitality industry : HOSPITALITY AND TOURISM INDUSTRY Example : Example: Example : Example : + Cruises + Hotels + Restaurants + Attractions + Airlines + Motels + Coffee shops + Gaming facilities + Rails + Homestay + Bars + Parks Travel Accommodation Food Services Recreation You know, when the customers buy one tour, they has two ways to contact : travel company or tour agent Then, when the customer agrees to cooperator with travel company or tour agent, we call the car to book a coach and call the hotels to book rooms, and maybe we can book meal in that hotel or another restaurants So that’s called the relationship between tourism and other sections in hospitality industry - - Relationship between the travel company and hotels : accommodation is indispensable for a tourist trip So depending on the type of customer, we must know how to choose suitable hotel In each region, there are different kinds of hotels, with the kind of hotel where there is no such requirement, so when discussing with customer, we need discuss clearly about information of that hotel Therefore travel company or tour agent should have extensive relationships with many hotels in the region Relationship between the travel company and restaurants : sometimes when the customer stay a hotel, we will arrange for them to eat that hotels But example in - the afternoon, they don’t stay at the hotels, in that time, we need a restaurant for them to relax with a short break and have a lunch With good relationship, we can book without deposit When booking, we have to remember to give them needed information about our tourist such as number, how many dishes, chose dishes, is there any special offer… Relationship between the travel company and transportation : the most important relationship of a tourism company is a relationship with transportation provider They can change hotels to live, restaurant to eat, but not easily to change transportation provider Having good relationship with providers, we have many profits They offer lower price, high quality coach And we can make acquainted to drivers With tour guide, driver is important If driver covers tour guide’s back, he could his job better E - SELF - EVALUATION RECOMMENDATIONS 21 days of the tour is the best memories I have had That was a beautiful time I was living with my dear friends, they are like my second family, they always protect and take care of me, beside me when I need, share the fun with me and wiping tears when I cry This tour is a memories I can’t forget because this is a dream I go around Vietnam before I’m 20 years old without my parents It was a beautiful time period when entering the first year of university Before, I was just watching Vietnam through TV screens, I just know it’s nice , I could not believe it’s so mighty and so wonderful I really like Sapa, Ha Long bay, Hoi An, Ninh Binh, Da nang … All of them are really beautiful city and I wanna comeback once again After the journey, I have learned a lot of things, from my friends, tour guide and my teachers Although sometimes we have a problem, it’s okay, we always solve all the problem professional And I really want to thank you once again to Viet Sky Company, thanks my brother – my tour guide – Mr Vinh , my teacher – Mrs Ly , my driver – Mr.Long and the man is next to mr Long ( I really sorry I can’t remember your name ) They always beside us and help us when we need Viet Sky is a professional company Their manipulation is really agile and always what is the best for their group I am very pleased and honored to be Viet Sky company guide I have learned a lot of things from them
