Subjunctive in that-clause (Câu giả định với mệnh đề that) - Câu giả định câu mà đối tượng thứ muốn đối tượng thứ hai làm việc - Câu giả định có tính chất cầu khiến khơng ép buộc câu mệnh lệnh - Trong câu giả định, người ta dùng dạng nguyên mẫu động từ sau số động từ mang tính cầu khiến 1.Câu giả định dùng would rather và that 1.1 Diễn tả việc (present subjunctive): S1 + would rather that + S2 + [verb in simple form] (Vbare )… E.g.: - I would rather that you call me tomorrow - He would rather that I don’t take this train 1.2 Diễn tả việc  đối lập với thực tế Động từ sau chủ ngữ hai chia simple past, to be chia were tất  S1 + would rather that + S2 + [verb in simple past tense] E.g.: - Henry would rather that his girlfriend worked in the same department as he does (His girlfriend does not work in the same department) - Jane would rather that it were winter now (In fact, it is not winter now) - Henry would rather that his girlfriend didn’t work in the same department as he does - Jane would rather that it were not winter now 1.3 Diễn tả việc  trái ngược với thực tế khứ S1 + would rather that + S2 + past perfect … E.g.: - Bob would rather that Jill had gone to class yesterday (Jill did not go to class yesterday) - Bill would rather that his wife hadn’t divorced him ***Chú ý: Ngữ pháp đại cho phép lược bỏ that số câu giả định dùng would rather 2. Câu giả định dùng với động từ • Advise: khuyên Demand: yêu cầu • Prefer: muốn Require: yêu cầu • Ask: yêu cầu Insist: yêu cầu • Propose: đề nghị Stipulate: đặt điều kiện • Command: lệnh Move: đề nghị • Recommend: đề nghị Suggest: đề nghị • Decree: lệnh Order: lệnh • Request: yêu cầu Urge: thúc giục • Desire: yêu cầu - Trong câu định phải có that - Động từ  sau chủ ngữ dạng nguyên mẫu S1 + verb + that + S2+ [verb in simple form] Ví dụ: We urge that he leave now   - Nếu bỏ that đi chủ ngữ trở thành tân ngữ, động từ trở dạng to -V, câu ý nghĩa giả định trở thành câu bình thường Ví dụ: We urge him to leave now 3. Câu giả định dùng với tính từ • Các tính từ dùng câu giả định gồm tính từ • Advised: đắn • Necessary = Essential = Vital = Crucial => quan trọng, cần thiết • Recommended Urgent: cấp bách • Important Obligatory: bắt buộc • Required Imperative: cấp bách • Mandatory: bắt buộc Proposed • Suggested Best • Desirable • Trong cơng thức sau, adjective phải tính từ có It + be + adjective + that + S + [verb in simple form ] Một số ví dụ: It is necessary that he find the books It was urgent that she leave at once It has been proposed that we change the topic • Trong số trường hợp dùng danh từ tương ứng với tính từ theo cơng thức sau It + be + noun + that + S + [verb in simple form ] Ví dụ: It is a recommendation from a doctor that the patient stop smoking • Có thể dùng số expression cấu trúc giả định a good idea, a bad idea… It + be + expression + that + S + [verb in simple form ] E.g.: It is a good idea that he study abroad • Câu giả định dùng dạng phủ định, tiếp diễn bị động: E.g.: - The government urged that people not waste natural resources - It is crucial that patients not be waiting for urgent operation - The government demanded that rural people be allowed to live in big cities 4. Câu giả định dùng với it is time • It is time (for sb) to sth : đến lúc phải làm (thời gian vừa vặn, khơng đưa giả định) It is time for me to get to the airport (just in time) • Nhưng: It is time / It is high time/ It is about time   +    S + simple past      (đã đến lúc – giả định thời gian đến trễ chút) Ví dụ: It’s high time I lef for the airport (it is a little bit late)   ... worked in the same department as he does (His girlfriend does not work in the same department) - Jane would rather that it were winter now (In fact, it is not winter now) - Henry would rather that. .. rather và that 1.1 Diễn tả việc (present subjunctive) : S1 + would rather that + S2 + [verb in simple form] (Vbare )… E.g.: - I would rather that you call me tomorrow - He would rather that I don’t...
