new type of business platform that enables anyone to employ multiple technologies such as electronic data interchange and document transport Some businesses in the modern-day believe that e-commerce is the greatest option now and in the future The Covid 19 pandemic happens to accelerate the development process of e-commerce because of its benefit of it This research essay will find out both views of the impacts of Covid-19 on e-commerce To begin with, there are some positive impacts that Covid 19 has to affect on e-commerce and one of the major is the sale of e-commerce increase during the period of Covid 19 Because of Covid19 people must stay at home to keep safe so it leads when people need to buy food or other things they just shop online to buy things they need easy by the website and then the market will deliver to them It helps people no need to go shopping, saves a lot of time for people and keeps them safe at home According to Anam Bahatti(2020), Because of the virus, individuals are avoiding going out, keeping social distance, and shopping and working from home, such as Walmart supermarket e-commerce, which has increased by 74 percent Furthermore, media usage has expanded during this time, and Facebook and Google have updated their features to connect more people at a single time, such as Facebook's introduction of Messenger, which competes with Zoom Google, too, has released an updated version (Sarah Davis, 2020) Secondly, Covid 19 has changed the shopping behavior of people From the past to the present, people often go to the market to buy necessary things for them such as food, clothes, and other things but since the internet people started to buy things online through some famous websites such as Amazon, eBay, and Walmart According to Othman Zidane (2021), Over the last two years, the global e-commerce market has undergone a radical transformation Many analysts agree that this shift in consumer behavior has propelled the e-commerce industry forward by at least five years Consumers have grown accustomed to buying items from the comfort of their own homes – a change spurred largely by strict lockdowns and movement restrictions – and many analysts agree that this shift in consumer behavior has propelled the e-commerce industry forward by at least five years Furthermore, this change in shopping habits appears to be long-term rather than temporary Finally, during the Covid 19 period, some companies can’t survive through the pandemic but with the development of e-commerce during Covid 19, it helps e-commerce businesses easier to manage and develop their business According to K.Susmitha (2020), It is much less expensive to run an internet store than it is to run a physical store Because web-based management solutions allow proprietors to automate inventory management and storage isn't always required, an online company typically requires fewer employees (as we discuss later) As a result, e-commerce firm owners may afford to convey operational cost savings to customers (in the form of product or service discounts) while still maintaining a healthy profit margin Furthermore, with the rise of price comparison websites, consumers have more pricing transparency and are able to browse about, often purchasing from online retailers instead of brickand-mortar stores However, despite the increase in sales of e-commerce during Covid 19, some service ecommerce sales decrease because of the pandemic so people can't use those services, besides some old people don’t have a lot of knowledge about the e-commerce so they prefer the traditional shopping instead of online shopping As a result, Covid 19 brings a lot of positive impacts to e-commerce and the major one is to increase sales of e-commerce because it will make e-commerce become well-known On the other hand, Covid 19 also bring some negative impact that affects e-commerce and the main one is the slowdown of service e-commerce companies Because when every city lockdown from Covid 19, those companies selling an airplane, bus, or train tickets to travel did not sell any tickets during that period because people must stay at home and can’t go anywhere and when the city was no longer in lockdown these service e-commerce can be developed again According to Othman Zidane(2021), The gross merchandise volume, or GMV, of an e-commerce business is frequently used to gauge its health It shows total goods sales for a certain time period before any fees or charges are deducted When combined with data from the financial statements of the world's largest e-commerce companies, a clear image of COVID19's influence on the industry emerges Services e-commerce companies, such as those in the ride-hailing and travel industries, had a steep drop in GMV, putting them behind their peers in the ranks of top B2C ecommerce companies by that metric Besides, the other negative impact that affects e-commerce is the production and the manufacturers are expected to be hampered more Because of the lockdown so the trade between the two nations paused and it leads to there being still a lot of inventory, so manufacturers will not produce anymore, resulting in workers not having a job According to Mohammad Waliul Hasanat(2020), it is unavoidable that the impact of novel coronaviruses will have a considerable impact on the country's economy and society The growing threat of new coronaviruses is a public health emergency that is wreaking havoc on the macroeconomy It has also cut off the company's supply chain The industrial and manufacturing industries are projected to be further affected However, with the development of ecommerce and the demand for necessary things in each nation, these manufacturers will start to produce again and people will no longer in unemployed Overall, despite Covid 19 affect negatively to all fields in people's life but it inadvertently promoted the development of e-commerce faster than the people predict In conclusion, it is clear that Covid 19 brings to people a lot of positive impact on e-commerce it has inadvertently accelerated the development a few years faster However, there are still some negative impacts that Covid 19 has left slowing down some aspects of e-commerce Ultimately, with this inadvertently people can develop more and more to approach the high technology in the future
