topic: In the cause of industrialization - modernization of our country today and in the era of information technology explosion in the global context, how can we take shortcuts, take the lead, so and position in the cause of education and training and in the development of the country In general, not only because knowing foreign languages is an indispensable need of highly-skilled workers to meet the constantly renewed technological processes, but knowing foreign languages is also an important skill necessary force for modern Vietnamese people To be able to access world knowledge, first of all, one must be good at foreign languages in order to cultivate understanding on par with the times Each person needs to master a little At least one foreign language, proficiency rather than sketchy knowledge is mainly aimed at responding, taking the average score to "pass" Vietnamese exams Towards the current world of knowledge, we have a peerless means of power: the Internet The expansion of internet tools and information technology is a decisive step for updating new and modern knowledge In the system of knowledge, skills and attitudes, it is necessary to form and develop knowledge for all people For people, foreign languages have a very important position, foreign languages are not only an effective tool in the hands of employees in exploiting information, absorbing high scientific and technical achievements and learning from good experiences of employees countries in the world about their specialized fields but also a useful means for improve the quality of material and spiritual life for people Mastering foreign languages, people can have a deeper understanding of world civilization, expand cooperation, exchange and develop their own potential The explosion of information technology entails its wide range of applications in all areas of social life, in which education and training cannot be ignored For English, the application of Information Technology (IT) in teaching plays a very important role in the success of the teaching and learning process Currently, the application of information technology in teaching for students is most clearly shown through "electronic lectures" The application of IT in teaching and learning English helps teachers have the opportunity to practice listening, speaking, and English expression skills, overcome limitations in phonetics, stress, and intonation, and is a motivation for teachers to try their best rise When applying IT in teaching, teachers' lectures are always flexible and flexible, promoting interaction between teachers and learners Information technology, including computers connected to the Internet, is a huge data warehouse for teaching, helping teachers and students share information, increase self-study time, and solve problems by themselves (if they still have problems) in teaching and learning) 1.2 The purpose of the research initiative Aware of the importance of applying IT in teaching and learning foreign languages, I see that teachers need to exploit more of the available scientific resources on the internet to include in their lessons to improve efficiency teaching and the quality of student learning In this experiential initiative, I boldly recommend some effective online tools that teachers can exploit to design learning activities as well as build a quality test 1.3 Research subjects Students in class 5a1, 5a2 and 5a3 1.4 Research Methods Observation method: Is a method of collecting information by direct perception Document synthesis method: It is a method to find out other experiences and initiatives related to the application of IT in foreign language teaching The method of summarizing experience: It is a method of combining theory with practice at school, analyzing the experience of practice, and then drawing conclusions from these analyzes of successes and failures, and new discovery and development to perfection 2.Content 2.1 Theoretical basis of the initiative Learning a foreign language is a process of receiving, imitating, using machines and forming technical skills Therefore, the stage of knowledge acquisition plays an extremely important role in the entire learning process If students have the right way of receiving, in accordance with their ability, they will memorize very quickly and can use it flexibly in the next stages According to Howard Earl Gardner, an American educational psychologist, there are eight types of intelligence: Word smart: Verbal and linguistic intelligence, including spoken and written Possessing this type, students are able to convey richer, more convincing thoughts and feelings And “People with linguistic intelligence also learn foreign languages more easily.” Logic smart: This is the area where you have to work with logic, abstraction, reasoning and numbers, helping students form a clear and scientific way of thinking, with an analytical mind respectable argument Nature smart: Including the ability to observe deeply, understand and love the natural world Just like social interaction, natural intelligence enables students to receive energy through interacting with the world Body smart: This is the area for body movements Students with this advantage often demonstrate excellence in physical activities that require agility, dexterity, and sensitivity such as sports, acting, or crafts Music smart: This is the intellectual area that has to with melodies, music, and hearing It is easy to see that students who are gifted in singing, playing musical instruments, and composing possess this intelligence Anything related to tone and hearing can spark interest and enhance receptivity in students Therefore, imparting a certain knowledge through music to take advantage of this intelligence is also a very right direction People smart: This is the area that has to work with human interaction, typically found in extroverts This ability makes it easy for children to make friends, quickly integrate into a new environment, and receive positive energy through interaction with the outside Self smart: This is the area to work inward and reflect the subject's own capacity This intelligence helps students understand themselves, including their strengths and weaknesses, abilities and desires Knowing this, parents can fully take the initiative to accompany them children choose appropriate development methods Picture smart: This is the area where you have to work with spatial visions and judgments This helps students better interact with the outside world and cultivate awareness Visual abilities, sharper directions than the common ground also make students possessing this intelligence have a rich artistic inclination In a classroom, each student has a different type of intelligence Some children are intelligent in terms of language, others are intelligent in terms of movement, or spatial - visual So how can the same problem of knowledge, with different students' abilities, still be able to absorb and remember the same lesson? Just That knowledge can be accessed in many forms such as: images, sounds, movements, communication, music If a lesson is just textbooks, chalks and boards, it can't help the part Large students can memorize the lesson While online English teaching tools can meet this big problem Almost all the online tools used in teaching English have pictures, beautiful colors, and vivid sounds Highly communicative activities, including those that require students to movement in class Because of those advantages, when exploiting these tools in teaching, students become very interested in the lesson They memorize the lesson very quickly, remember longer and have better ability to apply knowledge 2.2 Actual situation before applying experience initiatives Previously, the school was not fully equipped with teaching equipment Therefore, teachers face many difficulties in teaching If so, they only stop at PowerPoint lectures, but have not directly exploited online tools to find information and design teaching activities Therefore, the teaching method In theory, there is a positive change, but in practice it still creates boredom for learners But in this new school year, from the beginning of the year, the school has installed each classroom a projector and sound system or television Internet is connected to each room Therefore, I have boldly applied some online tools to teaching activities, helping students to be more interested in English subject This is clearly shown in English lessons in class, children actively speaking, listening attentively, actively working in groups, even actively seeking information about the topics studied in the book However, this interest can be increased many times if teachers can exploit more tools to design learning activities on the internet 2.3 Measures used to solve the problem In fact, academic performance also affects students' interest in learning Students with good academic performance are often very interested in the subject On the contrary, children with poor academic performance often not like, even hate and fear that subject Therefore, in this experiential initiative, I have included the results of English learning for the 2017-2018 school year, and the results of the survey of interest in English at the beginning of the 2018-2019 school year 2.3.1 Survey students’ interest in English at the beginning of the school year 2021-2022 Survey results of grade of Le Tat Dac Primary School on September 10, 2021, the results are as follows: Number of students 123 Average Good Excellent 33 40 50 40,7% 26,8% 32,5% Table 1: Quality survey results at the beginning of the year for English in grades – Le Tat Dac Primary School Number of students 123 Dislike Interest in learning English Like Like so much 53 30 40 66,1% 24,4% 32,5% Table 2: Survey results of interest in learning English at the beginning of the year of grade – Le Tat Dac Primary School The above are the results of a survey of students' interest in English with traditional teaching methods With the old method: * Advantages: - Teachers not have to spend a lot of time designing teaching activities, only using textbooks and following instructions - They does not require much information technology application - Students are familiar with traditional teaching methods * Disadvanges: - Teaching activities are not interesting, so students are bored and not interested in learning English - It does not stimulate creativity in teaching and learning English - Failing to keep up with the requirements of teaching method innovation to be effective in teaching With the desire to improve the quality of English teaching in primary schools and through teaching practice, I have sought to apply measures to bring success Therefore, I boldly came up with the solution "Application of some online tools in teaching and learning English for grade 5" 2.3.2 Applying some useful online tools in teaching and learning : 2.3.2.1 Random-name-pickers I use it to call students, check vocab or grammar at random and count the time It is an online tool that acts as an online timer It has many functions such as: Calling students' names on the board or answering questions in different forms, counting students' task completion time, checking students' words or sentence patterns by random rotation , organize interesting races for students.It’s free to use and no need to register an account This tool make students excited about lessons Teacher has interesting lectures without preparing many other things Instructions for exploiting Online-stopwatch : Go to the page: https://www.online-stopwatch.com/ Select Classroom Timers to time the task for students to complete There are many different forms of engaging timekeeping to engage students to complete the assignments given by the teacher as follows: Or teachers can use Random Name Picker to randomly call out students' names, or give vocabulary to test students' pronunciation at random (The image of students randomly calling their names up to answer questions in class 5A2 , Le Tat Dac primary School) (Image of checking students' words by using the Random Name Pickers tool in class 5A1) Choose Chance Games so that students can entertain themselves after stressful hours with many interesting games 2.3.2.2 Wordwall I use it to find interesting games: Huge variety of English game resources is available such as : Match up, Quiz, Random wheel, Missing word, Find the match, Matching pairs, Random cards, Labelled diagram, Open the box, Gameshow quiz, Maze chase, True or false… Activities can be presented under different themes Each theme can change the look and feel with graphics, fonts and sounds.Students are excited, positive, proactive and passionate about participating in activities.The class is also lively, saving time for teachers Instructions for exploiting Wordwall: -Create an account by visiting https://wordwall.net/, then select “Sig up with google” Just one action, you have an account using wordwall with many different features such as Community (exploit community resources), Create Activity (create activities according to teachers' own ideas) So you can find all available games for students to review vocab and check grammar in “Community” (The image of wordwall) 2.3.2.3.Classdojo I use it to encourage students Promptly and manage the class ClassDojo is an educational communication platform between schools and students and their families Through this platform, parties can monitor and participate in each other's activities This is a small online class that aims to promote student learning as well as increase the connection between parents and the school Instructions for exploiting Classdojo: Go to the page: https://www.classdojo.com/ After registering and creating a class account, each student will be represented by a funny Monster image So we will have a virtual classroom with each student's name in the class (The image of class 5A3 on Classdojo) - Building discipline through rewarding or deducting competition points Through the software, teachers can create rules and regulations on rewards and punishments, plus or minus points, With Classdojo software, teachers can set up encouraging behaviors in the classroom such as: + Eager to express opinions + Care to help you + Respect teachers + Maintain hygiene … 10 (The image of disciplines of class 5A3 on Classdojo) Each time a student performs a good deed, a specified number of points will be added Similarly, the teacher will set out the behaviors that will be deducted points, for example: + Private talk + Don't homework + Late to school And when students violate, a certain number of points will also be deducted So after a week, a month, the teacher will summarize to see who has the highest score From there, there will be a suitable way to reward or convert the score according to the teacher's idea 11 - Classdojo is a class management support tool: Classdojo software supports vivid classroom management features such as randomly selecting a student's name, creating a countdown timer, creating groups, setting time for each activity (The image of a student getting points) Applying ClassDojo in classroom management will bring about high interaction between teachers and students, thereby helping to make the classroom atmosphere more vibrant, encouraging students' active participation in lessons, proactive 2.4 Effectiveness achieved After a period of regular implementation of application this way in lessons, my own teaching is simpler, faster, and takes more time for weak students Students at Le Tat Dac Primary School are more excited, which is clearly shown by their active participation in the game "learn - Don't spend a lot of time composing; - Exploiting lesson content in a positive and creative way; - Create students' interest in learning; - Cultivate the ability to search, exploit and apply information technology in teaching; - Catching up with the modern teaching trend of the new era With student: - The children are interested in the lesson; - Participate more actively in communication activities to form language skills; - Be more conscious of learning English in class and self-study at home; - Have a love for English subject and English teachers; - Improved learning outcomes 3.2 Recommendations For Le Tat Dac primary school: - Continue to maintain and promote the creativity of teachers; - Regularly motivate and encourage teachers who have many good ideas and experiences in teaching English; - Create conditions for facilities in the classrooms, such as projectors, internet, and audio equipment; - Organize discussions, exchange and share experiences on the exploitation and application of information technology in teaching English For the Department of Education and Training of Hoang Hoa district: -
