more and more important In addition to opening up employment opportunities, being able to speak a foreign language helps to make a real connection with people all over the world and to understand more about diverse, places and lifestyles The more proficient you are, the better you can express yourself English is the most common second language in the world Therefore, it is necessary for us to learn communication skill to fulfill our desires and goals Simply, in this modern world, communication skills play an important role and one must have mastery over these skills to get success in our respective fields It’s the reason why speaking is the most important skill among all the four language skills so as to exchange information with more people online and use many more materials From this, we can realize that the classroom is the ideal platform to acquire good communication skill, especially, speaking skill To improve speaking skill, the teachers have to understand the problems of the English language learners and try to implement various teaching strategies in their classrooms so that they can develop their learners’ speaking skill in English classrooms This is possible for me to change my methods and materials and by using the latest techniques of teaching speaking skill Under these circumstances that student have been studying English language in secondary school for years and years of high schools, so I have worked as a English teachers of grade to help my students to master, listen and manipulate mature information During teaching process at school and observing students learning habits as well as attitudes, I realize that the practice speaking skills of the students have caused lot of problems Most of students not know how to speak and they are often afraid of speaking lesson They are not interested in speaking lesson any more Of all reasons above, I strongly research and test subjects: COMBINING SPEAKING ACTIVITIES IN THE POST READING STAGE OF READING LESSONS TO MOTIVATE STUDENTS TO LEARN ENGLISH IN 11 BASIC CLASSES IN TRIEU SON HIGH SCHOOL Hoping to contribute a small part in it adjust teaching methods to achieve better efficiency II Objectives of research, research tasks, research methodology and scope of research Objectives of research While teaching process, I realize that most students are afraid of speaking because they not know what to talk and how to talk, they not remember the vocabulary, grammar structures and so on, especially the weak student When I combine speaking activities in the post reading stage in reading lessons, I give my students the samples, vocabulary, useful language, etc They can imitate the sample to make their own speech about the topic of the unit Then students speak out before the class confidently Research tasks In the content of English 11, Reading lessons are mainly about : Friendship, Party, Volunteer work, Competitions, Celebrations, Nature in danger, Soures of energy, Hobbies and some sport games, etc Research methodology There are some tips to encourage students to involve in learning activities, especially in the post reading stage that I myself usually use to require my students to in the class They are: + Picture describing + Ask and answer + Interview + Report + Self- work + Discussion Scope of research In this school year, I mainly apply this method to two 11 classes in Trieu Son High school: 11A37 and 11C37 B CONTENT I The reasoning basis of the theme In fact, to make reading lessons more effectively, in the post reading stage, we should combine with speaking as well as writing activities Because reading give input of new vocabularies and model sentences as well as structure to students White writing will help students give outline what to talk first so they will not leave the main ideas that need mending in their speech Research on this topic, I hope to help students will be more active and aggressive in acquiring, understanding a profound knowledge of the lesson II The real situation of matter The real state Although English becomes one of the official subjects at school, promoting its benefits has not been much interested, partly because the facilities are not high and don’t attract students’ passion for learning increasingly Some teachers complain that most students not concentrate on practising English tests That is the reason why students have not carefully revised their lessons and they have done them in a coping format The tests have a lot of knowledge that are not in the textbook while the teacher does not integrate the other combined knowledge This leads to the truth that students are often shocked to practice with a full English test if the teacher does not fully explain the test In addition, students not understand the lesson and are bored with learning When having a difficult problem, students are afraid to think and choose indifferently The most favourite way student often multiple choice test is making a random cut and seeking luck Beside that students in my school are mostly people living in the remote areas or even though they are ethnic minority so when they studying English, they are afraid of giving their own speech Reading lesson is the first lesson in each unit and it gives students the topic off the whole unit as well as vocabulary and grammar that students have to remember in whole unit From this consequence, we can see that To help student develop their speaking skills and remember the content of the reading lessons well, I myself have already combined speaking activities in the post reading lessons to make the lesson more lively and students will be more excited about learning English instead of being scared of it III Organization steps: Picture describing Unit 1: use the questions in the list to answer about themselves then call some of them present their work before the class + List of questions: What kind of volunteer work did you participate in? What exactly did you do? Where did you your volunteer work? Who did you work with? Did you enjoy the work? Why you feel like doing volunter work? Are you going to volunteer work in the future? How does your house look like before and during Tet? What is the first thing you usually at Tet? What clothes you often wear at Tet? What food and drink that you like best at Tet? What activities you like most at Tet? What you and your family member often together at Tet? What your family on New Year’s Eve? Do you like Tet? 10 What is the most meaningful that you at Tet?
