Most of these poems were written at www.poetryvine.com/lynne/forums If you are a poet or lover of the art, this site is very highly recommended. Through the inspiration of these fine people I wrote this poetry with a variety of topics and emotions. Some were written just for fun, others by request of members, a few were inspired by their comments, a couple through games, challenges and artwork and the rest are from my old stash. I am sure you will enjoy reading these just as much as I loved writing them. So relax by your favorite waters edge and enjoy your journey through this poetic world. 8 My Castle 24 Aug 04 I moved into my first castle today, It was already my home; But through the power of a lovely friend, It became a greater place to roam. I feel so blessed in many ways, With all my friends right here; If ever you need a place to sleep, My castle door will be somewhere near. You are always welcome, No matter what your intentions; I will offer what I can, You may let down your inhibitions. No one here will hurt you, These castle walls are strong; If ever you thought you didn't have one, You now have a place where you belong. My knights fight battles with love, And we have never lost; If you join our cause, We will protect you at all costs. The towers swirl with poetry, No prisoners are ever taken; Our pride is high, our love is strong, This castle can not be shaken. 9 Fright Filled Night 24 Sept 04 Greetings Friends and Fiends, Here goes a poem for Halloween; It's sure to be an awful fright, So grab your loved ones and hold on tight! The night is coming, For chills and scares; When the zombies rise, Will you be there? Witches cast spells, On this unholy night; Vampires appear from mist, Oh yes, they love to bite. Flaming pumpkins are tossed, At unsuspecting heads; Boogie men jump out, From under your bed. Goblins do some gobbling, And it is not on candy or sweets; Even the Fairies are scary, As they pull several tricks and give out no treats. The succubus are out searching, For some very tasty souls; The guardian at Hells' gate, Isn't even charging a toll. The ghost are out haunting, This is their back to Earth day; Even the candy, Wants your teeth to decay. 10 So this Halloween, When you think it is just a kid; Remember these creatures, And all the things did. Open the door with caution, Then lock all locks; You never know when the real Demons, Will visit your block! [...]... bats; Let loose all the snakes, And of course the giant rats It is time for midnight, To come outside and play; Keeping all the little mice, Very far away Make some pumpkin pie, Then carve the little faces; Fill them up with fire, And put them in their places Get all my spider friends, To decorate the yard; Spinning pretty webs, They like to work so hard Rake up all the leaves, Put them into piles; Later... that are at the bar; I am even driving their truck, Because today I have no car The bar should be closing soon, At least that is good luck; For doing this for them, They gave me twenty bucks I am about to fall asleep, Just hope I don't do it at the wheel; Because then for those 3 guys, It would be a pretty messed up deal It is already after two, They should have called by now; Maybe they lost the number,... In other words no reason to be there I would make the cops all leave, With their heads hung low; When you chose to live by me, You chose to live in sorrow Now I am much better, Because neighbors I have none; I am free to do as I please, And that my friend is fun 33 Baby Sitting 12 Oct 04 Look at the cute little baby, Giggling and full of laughs; Together we will have fun, Playing on the floor Now the. .. down Grip the wheel with one hand, Grasp the shifter with the other; Get the RPM gauge near redline, Now blast off down the road Quickly changing gears, 1-2-3-4-5-6; Pedal to the metal, No one can stop you now Feel the engine, Pause your heartbeat; Roaring with excitement, You and the machine are one 35 Biker Heaven 12 Oct 04 There is a special part of Heaven, Where only bikers go; Where the tank is... Have you become the apple of my eye? Or the apple pie, I stole off your window while walking by? I got lost along the way, But I found some good things; Did you ever know, That ugly people sure can sing! What were we talking about? Oh yea, that peach cobbler; Go get the stuffing, And I'll go catch the gobbler Have you become the twinkle in my eye? Or just the rain, washing them off when they get dry?... beautiful, Are all the friends I've met; Antsy ones and silent ones, As always there are no regrets 32 Neighbors 12 Oct 04 They complain about the music, They complain about your friends; They should just go away, And let the battle end Some may be actually be friendly, But not where I used to dwell; I used to tell them suckers, You can go to Hell Call the cops on me, See if I really care; They got no proof... on them; To think they were forgotten, Would probably feel pretty grim 18 A Happy Little Poem 7 Oct 04 I walked outside for a moment, And saw a happy day; There were people driving by, All looked to have smiles on their face Actually I could not see them, But I imagined in my mind; That they were on the way, To a beautiful place Some would go see family, They had not seen in quite some time; While others... Driving by or on the street We have rolling hills where I live, They call it the hill country; There are wide open plains, And of course the valley too Tumbleweeds still blow through deserts, There are rivers, lakes and ponds; Acres full of protected forest, Housing endangered species The stars at night are big and bright, The bluest skies stretch for miles; Clouds house lightning shows, And the rain... bring; When just hanging out, And listening to blue birds sing I remember the Alamo, And the men who fought; So that we may live freedom, That can not be bought The poetry I find, On this lovely site; And the people who bring, Every day and night The pictures and castles, That I adore; And the knowledge, Soon there will be more All these and more, Keep me going; But most of all, That our poetic souls are... different beings I do not deny the Lord, nor do I deny the Ancients I bow before no one, for this is my own sacred realm If what I choose is wrong, then why must I have the ability to choose? If those I lead should not follow, then why must they have the ability to walk? If what I create should not be felt, then why must man have a heart? If I am not to own this world, then why was I put here to begin . By The Waters Edge 75 Original Poems By David W. Atherton 2 First Published by www.lulu.com © 2005 by David W. Atherton .
