REWRITE SENTENCES WITH COMPARISION A. LÍ THUYẾT I. So sánh ngang bằng (Equality) 1. Với tính từ và trạng từ a. Thể khẳng định S + V + as + adjadv + as +... + She is as tall as Huong. b. Thể phủ định S + V + not + asso + adjadv + as + + This exercise is not asso difficult as I think (it is). 2. Với danh từ a. Với danh từ số nhiều S + V + as many few + N (số nhiều) + as + ... + I have as many exercises as my brother does b. Với danh từ không đếm được S + V + as muchlittle + N (không đếm được) + as +.... + My brother has as little time to play football as I do. II. So sánh hơn (Comparative) 1. Tính từtrạng từ ngắn và tính từtrạng từ dài a. Tính từtrạng từ ngắn là những tính từtrạng từ: + có một âm tiết Ví dụ: Big (to), small (nhỏ), hot (nóng), cold (lạnh), thin (gầy), fat (béo), ... + có hai âm tiết tận cùng là một trong năm đuôi sau: y: happy (hạnh phúc), easy (dễ dàng), early (sớm), heavy (nặng), lazy (lười biếng)... er: clever (thông minh, lanh lợi) le: single (độc thân), simple (đơn giản) ow: narrow (hẹp) et: quiet (yên tĩnh) Lưu ý: Những tính từ trạng từ hai âm tiết tận cùng là đuôi y chỉ được coi là tính từ trạng từ ngắn khi bản thân nó có đuôi y. Ví dụ: lovely (đáng yêu) là tính từ dài vì nó được cấu tạo bởi love + ly = lovely. quickly (nhanh) là trạng từ dài vì nó được cấu tạo bởi quick + ly = quickly. b. Tính từ trạng từ dài là những tính từ trạng từ có từ hai âm tiết trở lên nhưng không phải một trong năm đuôi kể trên. Ví dụ: Beautiful (xinh đẹp), handsome (đẹp trai), intelligent (thông minh), hardworking (chăm chỉ) 2. So sánh hơn với tính từ trạng từ ngắn và dài a. So sánh hơn với tính từ và trạng từ ngắn S + V + adj adv + er + than + ... + He learns harder than his elder brother does. Lưu ý: + Những tính từ hai âm tiết, kết thúc bằng chữ y thì bỏ “y” thêm ier trong so sánh hơn và iest trong so sánh hơn nhất. + Những tính từ ngắn kết thúc bằng một phụ âm mà trước nó là một nguyên âm thì ta gấp đôi phụ âm rồi thêm er trong so sánh hơn và est trong so sánh hơn nhất. Ví dụ: Big  bigger  biggest. b. So sánh hơn với tính từ và trạng từ dài S + V + more + adj adv + than + ... + Huong dances more beautifully than other competitors. 3. So sánh hơn với danh từ S + V + more + N + than + ... Ví dụ: + She has more money than me. (Cô ấy có nhiều tiền hơn tôi.) III. So sánh nhất (Superlative) 1. Với tính từ và trạng từ ngắn S + V + the + adj adv + est + (N)+ ... + My mother gets up the earliest in my family. 2. Với tính từ và trạng từ dài S + V + the + most + adjadv + (N) + ... + My mother is the most beautiful (woman) in the world. 3. Với danh từ S + V + the + most + N + ... + He is a billionaire. He has the most money. Lưu ý: Có một số tính từ và trạng từ không theo quy tắc trên Tính từ trạng từ Nghĩa Dạng so sánh hơn Dạng so sánh nhất good well tốt, giỏi better the best bad tệ, tồi, dốt worse the worst much many nhiều more the most little ít less least far xa Farther (xa hơn về địa lí) Further (sâu xa hơn, kĩ lưỡng hơn, chi tiết hơn, suy rộng hơn) hoặc (hơn nữa, thêm vào đó) the farthest furthest old già, cũ Older (cao hơn về tuổi) Elder (cao hơn về thứ bậc) the oldest the eldest IV. So sánh kép (Double comparative) 1. So sánh luỹ tiến (càng ngày càng) 2. a. Với tính từ ngắn Adj + er + and + adj + er + The summer is coming. It gets hotter and hotter. b. Với tính từ dài moreless and moreless + adj + She is more and more attractive. (Cô ấy càng ngày càng hấp dẫn.) c. Với danh từ more and more + N + There are more and more people moving to big cities to look for jobs. 3. Lưu ý: Một số tính từ trạng từ không dùng ở dạng so sánh vì bản thân chúng đã mang tính tuyệt đối: Complete (hoàn toàn), favorite (yêu thích), ideal (lí tưởng), unique (duy nhất), excellent (xuất sắc), full (đầy), empty (rỗng), perfect (hoàn hảo), right (đúng), really (thật sự), extreme (cực độ, tột bậc), supreme (thượng hạng), absolute (tuyệt đối),... V. Một số công thức khác 1. So sánh gấp nhiều lần (multiple numbers comparison) S + V + multiple numbers +as + much many adj adv + (N) +as + Npronoun Là những số như half twice 3, 4, 5... time; Phân số; Phần trăm. + She types twice as fast as I do. + In many contries in the world with the same job, women only get 40 50% as much as salary as men.
