Trước danh từ dếm được số ít, ta có thể dùng a/an. Ví du:
- She has got a headache. Cỏ ấy bị đau đầu
- I bought an umbrella yesterday. 1 lôm qua tổi mua mốt chiếc ô.
Ta dùng a/an đế diễn lả vật hoặc người lă giống gì, lăm gì, loại gì hay như thế năo...
V í du:
- He is an optimist.
Anh ấy lă một người lạc quan. -1 Ier mother is a teacher.
Mẹ cơ ấy lă một giâo viín. - It is a beautiful dress. Nó lă một chiếc vây dẹp.
Ta có thể dùng "some" với câc danh từ dếm dược số nhiều, "some" được dùng theo hai câch.
a. "Some " có nghĩa lă một văi, một đơi, một phần.
Ví du:
- He needs some new sunglasses. Anh ấy cần một đơi kính rđm mới.
- Some friends of my brother are coming to stay at the weekend.
Một văi người bạn của anh trai tôi sẽ dến nghỉ cuối tuần.
- 1 bought some interesting books for my boy. Tôi dê mua một số cuốn sâch hay cho con trai tôi. * Khổng dùng "some" khi nói về sự vật một câch tổng quât.
Ví du:
- My uncle is a icachcr. I Ic often reads fKX)ks.
Chú của tôi lă một giâo viín. Ong la thường dọc những quyổn sâch.
Đói khi bạn có thí dùng "some" hay bỏ di cũng
dược.
Ví du:
- There are (some) eggs in the fridge if you are hungry.
Có (văi quả) trứng trong tủ lạnh dấy nếu bạn thấy đói.
b. "Some"có nghĩa lă một nhưng khơng phải uă
cả.
Ví du:
- Some children learn very quickly, (not all children).
Một số dứa trẻ học rất nhanh.
- Some police officer in Britain carry guns, but most of them don't.
Một văi cảnh sât ở Anh cỗ mang theo súng, nhưng phẩn lớn thì khỏng.
