Nghiên cứu hồi cứu này đã thẩm định giá trị tiên lượng của biểu hiện EGFR và đột biến KRAS ở bệnh nhân ung thư biểu mô đại trực tràng di căn đồng thời so sánh trạng thái di căn đồng bộ và di căn không đồng bộ. Phân tích miễn dịch mô miễn dịch để xác định biểu hiện EGFR. Trình tự trực tiếp gen KRAS được thực hiện để xác định đột biến. Dựa trên trạng thái di căn đồng bộ hoặc di căn không đồng bộ, các đặc điểm lâm sàng và giải phẫu bệnh lý của những bệnh nhân mắc ung thư biểu mô đại trực tràng di căn này được nghiên cứu. Giá trị tiên lượng về mặt sinh tồn của biểu hiện EGFR và đột biến KRAS ở những bệnh nhân này cũng được phân tích. Trong số 205 bệnh nhân mắc ung thư biểu mô đại trực tràng di căn, biểu hiện EGFR được phân tích ở 167 bệnh nhân, trong đó 140 bệnh nhân dương tính (83,8%). Đột biến KRAS được phân tích ở 205 bệnh nhân và phát hiện 88 bệnh nhân đột biến (42,9%). Ở những bệnh nhân ung thư biểu mô đại trực tràng di căn có di căn không đồng bộ, biểu hiện EGFR dương tính có liên quan đáng kể đến u biệt hóa trung bình và kém (P = 0,028), bệnh không tiến triển (DFS) tệ hơn (P < 0,001) và thời gian sống chung (OS) ngắn hơn (P < 0,001). Hơn nữa, biểu hiện EGFR dương tính là yếu tố tiên lượng DFS (P = 0,006; HR: 4,012; 95% CI: 1,130–8,445) và OS (P = 0,028; HR: 3,090; 95% CI: 1,477–10,900) độc lập đáng kể ở những bệnh nhân ung thư biểu mô đại trực tràng di căn có di căn không đồng bộ.
