CREATOR Autodesk AutoCAD Plant Report Creator is an additional application which comes along with AutoCAD Plant 3D It is used to generate reports without starting the AutoCAD Plant 3D application To start this application, double-click on the Autodesk AutoCAD Plant Report Creator 2016 English icon from your desktop screen; the Autodesk AutoCAD Plant Report Creator with the Settings message box will be displayed, as shown in Figure 10-17 Note that the Settings message box will be displayed automatically if you are opening the Autodesk AutoCAD Plant Report Creator application for the first time You can also invoke the Settings message box by choosing the Settings button available next to the Report Configuration drop-down in the Autodesk AutoCAD Plant Report Creator application Next, select the General radio button from the Settings message box and choose OK Now, you can start generating reports Figure 10-17 The AutoCAD Plant 3D Report Creator with the Settings message box Generating Reports Using the AutoCAD Plant Report Creator To generate reports, invoke Autodesk AutoCAD Plant Report Creator and select the required project available in the Project drop-down list If it is not available in this drop-down list, select the Open option; the Open dialog box will be displayed Browse and select the Project.xml file Next, choose the Open button; the data configurations related to the selected project will be displayed in Autodesk AutoCAD Plant Report Creator Select the required configuration from the Report Configuration dropdown list, refer to Figure 10-18 Select the Project Data or Drawing Data radio button from the Data Source area If you select the Drawing Data radio button, you need to select a drawing or drawings from the Data Source list box Next, choose the Preview button; the Preview window will be displayed, as shown in Figure 10-19 Close the Preview window and choose the Print/Export button; the PDF Export Options window will be displayed Next, choose the OK button; the Export results window will be displayed, as shown in Figure 10-20 Choose the OK button; the report will be exported to a PDF file and placed in the Reports folder of the project from the Project drop-down list and then select the New option from the Report Configuration drop-down list; the New Report Configuration dialog box will be displayed, as shown in Figure 10-21 Figure 10-21 The New Report Configuration dialog box Select the New blank report radio button from the dialog box and choose the OK button; the Report Configuration dialog box will be displayed, refer to Figure 10-22 Specify settings in this dialog box The procedure to specify the settings in this dialog box is discussed next: Click on the Edit query button of the dialog box; the Query Configuration dialog box will be displayed Select the desired radio button from the Query type area and then select the class from the Available Classes tree Now, add the required option in the Included Classes area by using the > button Next, choose the OK button from the dialog box; the Report Configuration dialog box will be displayed again Choose the Edit report layout button from the Report Configuration dialog box; the Report Designer along with the Report Wizard will be displayed Move the required field(s) from the Available fields area to the Fields to display in a report area from the Report Wizard Choose the Next button and define all the options required for the report and then choose the Finish button Save the report by choosing the Save button from the Report Designer and close it Choose the OK button from the Report Configuration dialog box Now, you can choose the Preview button to see the preview of report or the Print/Export button to save or print the report Figure 10-22 The Report Configuration dialog box TUTORIALS Tutorial In this tutorial, you will open the Piping Model.dwg file from the CADCIM project in the PROJECT MANAGER, and filter the data, and export the data from the DATA MANAGER You can also download this model from www.cadcim.com by following path: Textbooks > CAD/CAM > Plant 3D > AutoCAD Plant 3D 2016 for Designers> Input Files You will then modify the data, import it and then apply the changes (Expected time: 20 min) The following steps are required to complete this tutorial: a Open the 3D model file b Invoke the DATA MANAGER c Filter the data and export it d Open the exported file and modify the data e Import the modified data into the DATA MANAGER Starting AutoCAD Plant 3D and Opening the Project Start AutoCAD Plant 3D Select the CADCIM option from the Current Project drop-down list in the in the PROJECT MANAGER Open the Piping Model.dwg file from the Plant 3D Drawings node in the PROJECT MANAGER Invoking the Data Manager and Viewing the Data Choose the Data Manager button from the Project panel of the Home tab; the DATA MANAGER is displayed In the DATA MANAGER, select the Plant 3D Project Data option from the drop-down list located at the top-left corner, refer to Figure 1023; the Plant 3D project data is displayed Figure 10-23 Selecting the Plant 3D Project Data option Select the Equipment node from the Class tree; the data related to equipment is displayed in the Data table Filtering and Exporting the Data Right-click on Centrifugal Pump from the Long Description(Size) column in the Data table and node only radio button from the Include child nodes area and choose the Browse button; the Export To dialog box is displayed In this dialog box, select the Excel Workbook (*.xlsx) option from the button; the Export To dialog box is closed Choose the OK button from the Export Data dialog box; the data is exported to the Excel file Modifying the Exported Data Browse to the location C:\Users\User_name\Documents\CADCIM and open the CADCIM-Equipment.xlsx file; the spreadsheet is displayed In the spreadsheet, scroll to the Spec column and enter CS150 in the first cell, refer to Figure 10-27 Figure 10-27 Entering a value in the first cell of the Spec column Similarly, enter CS150 in all other cells of the Spec column Save and close the Excel file Importing the Data Switch to AutoCAD Plant 3D and open the DATA MANAGER if it is closed In the DATA MANAGER, make sure that Plant 3D Project Data is selected in the drop-down list located at the top left and Equipment data is displayed in the Data table Choose the Import button from the DATA MANAGER toolbar, refer to Figure 10-28; the AutoCAD Plant message box is displayed Figure 10-28 Choosing the Import button Choose the OK button; the Import From dialog box is displayed Browse to the location C:\Users\User_name\Documents\CADCIM and select the Excel Workbook (*.xlsx) option from the Files of type dropdown list if it on the shortcut icon of Autodesk AutoCAD Plant Report Creator 2016 - English in your Desktop; the Autodesk AutoCAD Plant Report Creator is displayed In this dialog box, select the Open option from the Project drop-down list; the Open dialog box is displayed Browse to the location C:\Users\User_name\Documents\CADCIM and double-click on the Project.xml file; the data sources related to the CADCIM project are displayed in Autodesk AutoCAD Plant Report Creator Select the Valvelist option from the Report Configuration drop-down list Select the Project Data radio button from the Data Source area Choose the Print/Export button from Autodesk AutoCAD Plant Report Creator; the PDF Export Options dialog box is displayed Enter the values in this dialog box, as shown in Figure 10-31 and choose the
