(1)UNIT 3: A TRIP TO THE COUNTRYSIDE LESSON 2: Speak A Objective: By the end of the lesson students will be able to ask for and give information about their home village B Teaching aids: Textbook C Methods: Shark’s attack, Noughts and crosses, Survey, Write it up D Contents: I ORGANIZATION : (1 minute) Date of teaching : 9A : students: 9B : Steps/ Activities II WARM UP (5 minutes) Shark’s attack: - Cut out a shark (or crocodile) and a school boy/ girl from card - Draw some steps, then stick the cut out boy/ girl on top of the steps, the shark is in the sea - Draw gaps for the word WHERE - Ask students as a whole class for a letter in the alphabet They have to try to guess the word If their guess is wrong, the girl/ boy has to step down If their guess continues until students find out the word WHERE and the shark can’t eat the boy/ girl III NEW LESSON (35minutes) Step Pre Speaking Noughts and crosses: Questions and answers about place - Divide the class into teams - Draw a nine - square grid on the board Who What Why Where Which When How many How far How Absent Content W H E R E Suggested questions: - Where is your home village? - What can you see on the way to your village? - What are some activities in the countryside? - When you ofte go to your village? - How often is the village fair held? - How far is it from the city? - Are there any banyan trees/ intresting places/ in your village? - Is there a village gate? (2) - The teams will take turn to choose the number and make a questions using the word given on the card If they can make a correct question, put a X ( or O ) in that box - The first team that has three “Xs” or “Os” in a line on the grid wins Step While Speaking * Speaking: - Have students read th questions in exercise a) on page 24, work in pairs, play the role of A and B, ask and answer about their partner’s home village, using the information in the box - Tell students to cover the role that they don’t play * Survey : - Ask sts to work in groups of - Ask sts to write information about themselves then ask their friends questions to complete the table Eg: A: Where is your home village? B: It's in Hai Phong A: How far is it from here ? B: It’ about 15 kilometers from here A: How can you get there? B: We can get there by bus A: How long does it take to get there? B: It takes an hour A:Whatdo people for a living in your village? B: They plant rice and raise cattle A: Does your village have a river? B:There aren’t any rivers but there is a big lake - Which of the places would you like to show us? Speaking Example: A: Where is your home village?
