Unit 4: Special Education

Lesson 1- Reading

I Objectives:

1 Educational aim: Students will be able to understand the term Special Education and talk about it through Matching and Multiple Choice exercise

2 Knowledge:

- General knowledge: Students know the information about Louis Braille and the special classes for disabled people

- Language: words related to disabled people 3 Skill: reading about special education

II Method: Integrated, mainly communicative

Warm-up - T asks sts some questions + Who’s absent today?- Thanks + Where did you stop last time?

- T asks sts to go to Unit 4: Special Education

Listen and answer the questions

Before you read - T introduces and explains some new words + disable: be unable/ incapable of doing sth + dumb(adj) not being able to speak

+ proper schooling(n): enough and good study (học hành đầy đủ)

+ opposition(n) : đối lập -> to oppose(v)to + to make effort(v) =to try one’s best

+ to be proud of (adj)=take pride on - T asks sts to listen and repeat

* What does the passage talk about?

* How many children are there in her class? * Who are they?

* Do they go to school? * Why you know?

* What the parents of the disabled children think? Which line helps you know? Which word?

* How does Miss Thuy Teacher’s activities the disable children in a math lesson?

* How are the children?

Task 1

- T asks sts to read through column A and column B before doing task

- Then, T asks sts to work in pairs read the text again to the task within mins

- After 3mins, T asks sts to give their answers and explain

- T corrects their mistakes if necessary

- T asks some sts to read aloud each part of the passage

- T asks sts to read through all the sentences before doing task

- T asks sts to work in pairs to read the passage again more carefully and the task within 3mins,
