1 Objectives:

By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to write a paragraph about advantages and disadvantages of television

2 Materials :

Textbook, blackboard, the suggested sentences, Ao paper (Crossword) 3 Anticipated problems:

Ss may find it dificult to find the main ideas in a paragraph 4 Procedure:

10’ WARM-UP: - Greet Ss

- Introduce game: crossword

- Give out a crossword which has 10 horizontal lines and one vertical line The word in the vertical line is made of 10 letters in the 10 horizontal lines - Give the definition/ suggested

sentences of the words in the horizontal line

- Ask Ss to work individually and find what are words

- Give Ss minutes to finish

- Note: all the words are learnt before - The suggested sentences:

1 The synonym of “speak” Mrs Tham is our…… teacher The antonym of “like”

4 …… programs are shown on TV at 7:00 p.m

5 An another name of “Film” If you want to see the beautiful

dresses, you watch …….programs

- Greet teacher - Listen

on the Ao paper that is on the board

12’ WHILE-WRITING:

Task A: Read the paragraph about the advantages of Television Then write them on the blanks

- Ask Ss to read the paragraph and find the advantages of television

- Ask Ss to work in pairs

- Ask Ss to write them in the blanks - Give Ss mins

- Go around the class and provide help if necessary

- Tell Ss to compare the answers with other friends

- Pick up some Ss to answer and ask Ss to write them on the board

- Ask Ss to give other answers if they disagree

- Check and give correct answers: Educational (children learn from TV

programs)

TASK B: Read the paragraph about the disadvantages of television and fill in the blanks with one of the words or phrases
