Lesson 2: 4-5-6 I Objectives: Knowledge: By the end of this lesson, Ps will be able to listen to specific information and write about what someone likes doing - Sentence patterns: revision - Vocabulary: revision Skills: Listening-reading-speaking-writing Attitude: Educate Sts to love their lesson Work hard III TEACHING AIDS: Teacher’s: student’s and teacher’s book, pictures, cassette Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks II TEACHING METHODS: - Work in pairs , individual, in groups … IV PROCEDURE: Class organization: - Greeting: Good morning/ Good afternoon How are you? - Checking for the students’ attendence: Class Date of teaching Absent Students 4C 21/11/2017 Warm up :6’ Spend a few minutes revising the previous lesson by playing a Guessing Game, following the procedure in Games in Introduction Have Ps play the game in small groups They should take turns acting out their hobbies while the others guess what the hobbies are New lesson Teacher’s and students’ activities * Activity 1: (9’) a Pre-listening: - T looks at the books and sets the scence: How many pictures are there? What’s she/ he doing? What are they doing? - Ask Ps to look at the pictures on page 49 - Tel Ps that they are going to listen to the four dialogues about hobbies and number the correct pictures - Focus their attention on the pictures so that they can understand how the language is used Help them to identify who the characters are and what Content Listen and number a: Linda likes flying a kite , b: Mai and Tony like singing , c: Nam likes playing badminton., d: Tony likes taking photographs Key: a - b- c- d- they like doing ( a: Linda likes flying a kite , b: Mai and Tony like singing , c: Nam likes playing badminton., d: Tony likes taking photographs.) Check understanding b While-listening: - Play the recording for ss to number the pictures - Play the recording again for them to check their answers - Get Ps to swap their answers before you check as a class c Post listening: - Play the game: Whisper * Activity 2: (10’) a Pre- writing - Ask ss to look at the pictures on page 49 How many pictures are there? What’s she/ he doing? What’s his/her hobby? - Tell Ps that they are going to the answers to the questions about someone’s hobbies , using the picture cues - Ask the to look at the question What you like doing? in the first two pictures Then have them find the answers by using the pictures cues Then get Ps to look at the questions What’s your hobby? in the last two pictures Again, have them find the answers by using the picture cues Check comprehension If necessary, get Ps to work in pairs b While-writing - Give them time to the task independently Go around offering help, if necessary - Get them to swap their answers before checking as a class Key: riding a bike flying a kite taking photographs playing badminton c Post writing - Ask Ps to read aloud the writing *Activity 3:7’ What’s your hobby? - Tell Ps that they are going to play the game What’s your hobby? Follow the procedure in Games in Introduction - Tick a large sheet of paper with nine hobbies on the board Divide Ps into groups of five One P in group A will mime one of the phrase on the board( eg: playing Look and write Key: riding a bike flying a kite taking photographs playing badminton Let’s play football) and ask What’s your hobby? The other groups guess the hobby, put a tick next to playing football on the board and say You like playing football The Ps of group A will say Yes, that’s right ( or No, that’s wrong.) The quickest group to put a tick next to the correct phrase on the board and say the correct sentence will get five points The group that gets the most points wins Consolidation: (3’) What’s the content of the lesson? Lesson 3: 1-2-3 I Objectives: Knowledge: By the end of this lesson, Ps will be able to Use the words and phrases related to the topic school Pronounce the sounds of the letters fl and pl in the words flying and playing respectively Skills: - Develop Ss Listening-reading-speaking-writing Attitude: Educate Sts to love their lesson Work hard III TEACHING AIDS: Teacher’s: student’s and teacher’s book, pictures, cassette Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks II TEACHING METHODS: - Work in pairs , individual, in groups … IV PROCEDURE: Class organization: - Greeting: Good morning/ Good afternoon How are you? - Checking for the students’ attendence: Class Date of teaching Absent Students 4C 21/11/2017 Warm up :6’ Spend a few minutes revising the previous lesson by calling two groups of three Ps to the front of the class to play the game What’s your hobby? New lesson Teacher’s and students’ activities * Activity 1: (8’) Listen and repeat (7’) - Tell Ps that they are going to practise saying the sounds of the lettes fl and pl in the word flying and playing respectively - First, put the letters fl and pl on the board Play the recording and ask Ps to repeat a few time Then put the word flying and playing on the board, play the recording and ask Ps to repeat a few more times After that, write the sentences I like flying a kite and He likes playing the piano Play the recording a few more times and let Ps say the sentences , paying attention to the target sounds - Do choral and individual repetition of the sounds, words and sentences until Ps feel confident - Get some Ps to perform in front of the class Check as a class and correct the pronunciation, if necessary * Activity 2: (10’) - Tell Ps that they are going to listen to the recording, circle the correct options and then write the words in the blanks - Give them a few seconds to read the sentences in silience and guess the words to fill in the gaps - Have P listen to the recording and circle the appropriate options Allow them time to the task independently If necessary, have Ps listen to the recording more than once - Give them time to write the words in the gaps independently - Get Ps to swap their answers before you check as a class Monitor the activity and offer help if necessary - Ask Ps to say the sentences aloud * Activity 3: 5’ - Tell Ps that they are going to say the chant Follow the procedure in Teaching the unit components in Introduction Content Look, listen and repeat Listen and circle Then write and say aloud Key: b a b a Audio script: I like flying a kite He likes playing the guitar She likes playing with a yo yo We like flying in a plane Let’s chant - Have them read the chant and check comprehension - Play the recording more than once, if necessary, for Ps to choral and individual repetition until they get familiarized with the pronunciation, the stress, the rhythm and the intonation of the chant Show Ps how to chant and actions - Divide the class into groups of four and call two groups to give a demonstration: one group chants the questions , the other chants the anwers - Get groups to sit opposite of each other and practise chanting and doing acting Go around offering help, if necessary - Call three groups to front of the class to chant and actions The rest of the class claps along to the rhythm Consolidation: (3’) What’s the content of the lesson? Who’s this? Who write email? Who get email? How old is she? What does she like doing? What doesn’t she like doing? What does she want? - Tell Ps that they are going to read Mai’s email and complete the sentences - Aks Ps to read the sentences under the email and focus on the gaps to complete b While-reading - Ask Ps to read the text and find appropriate information to complete the sentences Ask Ps to work in pairs or small groups - Give them time to the task independently - Get Ps to swap their answers before checking as a class If there is enough time, let some pairs ask and answer the questions * Activity 2: (9’) a Pre- writing: - Tell Ps that they are going to write a reply email to Mai, using the information from Activity - Ask Ps to work in pairs or groups to discuss what are they going to write - Focus ps on their name and ages, what they like doing and not like doing and their email address Remind Ps how to open and close an email Check comprehension b While-writing - Give ps time to the task independently - Get Ps to swap their answers before checking as a class Content Read and complete Key: nine collecting stamps, taking photos playing chess Penfriend c Post- reading - Have Ps display Write school about your - If there is time, Ask one Ps to write on the board c Post writing - Call some Ps to read aloud / display their writing * Activity 3: (6’) Project - Tell Ps that they are going to collect things that they like, show them to their classmates and tell their hobbies ( eg: I like collecting stamps) - Encourage them to collect different things You may give them more suggestions ( eg: bookmarks, leaves, key chains) - In the next lesson, have Ps show things they have colected to their classmates and talk about their hobbies Eg: I like collecting … I have … They are … Consolidation: (3’) What’s the content of the lesson?
