Date of preparing Week 20 – Period 39 UNIT – LESSON I OBJECTIVES Knowledge: By the end of the lesson, students can be able to: Read and say the three Uu wordscorrectly Recognize and say an extra Uu word correctly Pronunciation: U,u /ju:/ Vocabulary: Up, umbrella, ugly, under Skills: Develop Ss listening, reading, writing and speaking skill Attitude: Help Ss to be more confident to communicate in English II TEACHING AIDS Teacher’s: Lesson plan, books, projector, speakers and computer Students’: Books, notebooks, workbooks III METHOD: - Communicative approach Techniques:+ Work individually, in pairs/ groups + Play game IV PROCEDURE Organization: (1 min) - Greetings: T – Ss greet each other - Checking attendance: Who’s absent today? Ss: Answer Date of teaching Class Absent students 2B 2C 2.Warm up: (5 mins) Play the song from Unit 2, ask students to sing along and corresponding actions New lesson: Teacher’s and students’ activities Contents Listen and circle (Track 51) (5 mins) Listen and circle  Ask the students to take out their colour pencils/ crayons  Point to the pictures and elicit their name  Ask the students to listen and circle the pictures Activity: Memory Game (7 mins)  Ask the students to memorise the order of items in the first row of the activity  Ask the students to close their books then teacher covers item in the first row  Ask the students to guess the name of the covered item  Repeat the activity with other items or other rows 7 Listen, point and repeat Colour the pictures of the words that start with the u sound Say the u words (Track 52) (8 mins)  Show the students the under phonics card Point to it and say: // - under Ask them to repeat  Point under the desk and say: // - under Encourage the students to the same  Say the letter The students perform the action and say the letter and the word (if they can)  Play the CD The students listen, point to and repeat the word  Point to the picture and have students name them  Allow the students some time to colour in the pictures of words start with the // sound  Go around the classroom providing any necessary help Activity: Run and Touch (10 mins)  Divide the class into two teams A and B  Put up the phonics cards (cards from Part 6) on the board  Say one of the words Two students , one from each team, call out the word when they race to touch the corresponding card  The first students to touch the card wins a point for his/ her team  The team with more points wins Listen, point and repeat Colour the pictures of the words that start with the u sound Say the u words Consolidation: (2 min) - Retell the content of lesson Home-link: (1 min) Review the sounds of the letter and words at home V EVALUATION: …………………………………………………………………………………… …………………………………………………………………………………… …………………………………………………………………………………… **************************************************************** Date of preparing Week 20 – Period 40 UNIT – LESSON I OBJECTIVES Knowledge: : By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: Review the sound of the letter Uu, three Uu words and recognize the corresponding pictures Write the letter Uu Skills: Reading, Listening, Writing and Speaking Attitude: Help Ss to be more confident to communicate in English II TEACHING AIDS: Teacher’s: book, Phonics cards, computer Students’: book, work book III METHOD: Communicative approach Techniques: + Work individually, in pairs/ groups + Play game IV PROCEDURE 1.Organization: (1 min) - Greeting - Check class’ attendance Date of teaching Class Absent students 2B 2C 2.Warm up: (5 mins) - Have students sing the chant in lesson 1, keep the rhythm by clapping their hands or snapping their fingers New lesson: Teacher’s and students’ activities Contents Trace and say (Page 18 – Activity Book) (8 Trace and say mins)  Write on the board the capital letter U (write slowly to demonstrate its formation)  Point to it and elicit the sound //  Show the formation in the air (taking care when facing to the students that the letter is formed the correct way for them  Repeat with the small letter u  The students trace the letters in their activity books  Go around and provide any necessary help Ask the students to say the sound of the letter Trace and match (page 18 – Activity Book) Trace and match (7 mins)  Explain the activity First, the students trace the letters in the boxes Then draw lines from the letters to the corresponding pictures Answer keys: Rr- robot Ss- star Tttiger Uu- umbrella Activity: Sound and word  Divide the class into two teams, A and B  Put up the phonics cards (of Part 2) on the board  Ask a student from team A to identify the sound (one point) and the word (one point)  Continue with a student from team B  Write the points for each team on the board  The team with more points wins Write the letter Uu Then circle the pictures of the words that begin with the u sound Write the letter Uu Then (Page 19 – Activity Book) (7 mins) circle the pictures of the words that begin with the u  Explain the activity sound  Ask the students to write the letter Uu in the box Activity: Stand and Sit  Tell the students to listen for words that begin with the // sound  Ask the students to stand when they hear the words beginning with // sound and sit when they hear words beginning with another sound  Slowly say: ugly, up, ring, snake, umbrella, under, tiger  Repeat the activity by saying the words quickly and ask the students to circle the correct pictures  Go around the classroom and provide any necessary help Answer keys: ugly, up, umbrella, under Draw and color (page 19 – Activity book) (8 mins)  Explain the activity Draw and color  Read the words  Ask the students to use their pencils to draw an umbrella and a tent in the provided spaces The student finishes first will raise his/ her hand and shows his/ her pictures to the teacher  Ask the students to color their pictures (use any color they like)  Go around the classroom and provide any necessary help Consolidation (2 mins)  Draw a letter U in the air and ask the students to draw the same in the air  Mime the action and ask the students to guess the words  Say the correct word loudly and tell the students to the corresponding actions Consolidation: (2 min) Retell the content of lesson Home-link: (1min) Read the sounds and words at home V EVALUATION: …………………………………………………………………………………… …………………………………………………………………………………… ……………………………………………………………………………………
