Date of preparing: 23/04/2020 Week 23 Period 48 UNIT 10 : LETTER W Lesson I Objectives: Knowledge: Knowledge: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:  Recognize and say the three Wwwords correctly  Do the corresponding actions  Practice reading skills  Sing letter Ww song Vocabulary: Well, watch, window Sight words: Where, is, the, can, you, see Skills: - Develop Ss reading, writing and listening skills Attitude: Educate Sts to love their lesson Work hard III TEACHING AIDS: Teacher’s: student’s and teacher’s book, pictures, cassette Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks II TEACHING METHODS: - Work in pairs , individual, in groups … IV PROCEDURE: Class organization: - Greeting: Good morning/ Good afternoon How are you? - Checking for the students’ attendence: Class Date of teaching Absent students 2D 28/04/2020 ………………………………………………… Warm up :5’  Have students listen to the chant in lesson and sing along Repeat the chant without the CD, keep the rhythm by clapping their hands or snapping their fingers  Put the phonics cards on the board Name the items One at a time, ask students to corresponding actions then say the sound of the letter and words E.g Teacher: (Point to the ‘well’phonics card) Say /w/- well Class: (mime pulling a bucket from a well) /w/- well New lesson Teacher’s and students’ activities * Activity 1:  Ask: Can you see /w/- well? Point to it  Encourage the students to point to the picture of the word that the teacher says  Play the CD Have the students listen to the story once Content Listen, read along  Play the CD again The students listen and point to the pictures of the key words when they hear them in the story  Read the story The students follow in their books  Teacher reads the printed words then let the students look at the pictures and say the words  Ask students work in pairs One reads while the other checks, then they swap roles Or one reads the printed words while the other looks at the pictures and says the words  Go around the classroom to provide any necessary help Activity 2:  Divide the class into teams, A, B and C Ask students from each team to come to the board  Write the three words well, watch, window on the board  Teacher calls out/ shows the phonics card of one of the phonic cards, the students have to race to touch the word  The student who touches first wins a point for his/ her team  The team with the most points wins * Activity 3:  Put up the well, watch, windowphonics cards up on the board  Point to the well and say: Where is the well? The students repeat  Follow the same procedure and present the rest of the song  Play the CD The students listen and sing along  Play the CD again The pupils sing and corresponding actions OR ask the students to take out their own well, watch, window picture cards and place them on their desks Play the CD again The students listen and hold up the corresponding picture cards * Activity 4:  Put the well, watch and window phonics cards on your desk, face them down  Ask a student to come and pick up a card, show it to the class and say the word  Ask the rest of the class for verification  Ask the student to invite a friend to come to play  Teacher changes the position of the cards and let the student pick up one Speed race Song Say the name of the phonics card Teacher can divide the class into teams,let the teams take turns to play the activity then count the points of each team The team has the most points is the winner Consolidation: (3’) What’s the content of the lesson? Homelink: (3’) Do exercises in the workbook Learn by heart the new words Comments: ………………………………………………………………………………………… Period 49+ 50 UNIT 10 : LETTER W Lesson 3+ I Objectives: Knowledge: : By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:  Read and say the three Wwwordscorrectly  Recognize and say an extra Ww word correctly Vocabulary: Well, watch, window, watermelon Skills: - Develop Ss reading, writing, speaking and listening skills Attitude: Educate Sts to love their lesson Work hard III TEACHING AIDS: Teacher’s: student’s and teacher’s book, pictures, cassette Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks II TEACHING METHODS: - Work in pairs , individual, in groups … IV PROCEDURE: Class organization: - Greeting: Good morning/ Good afternoon How are you? - Checking for the students’ attendence: Class Date of teaching Absent students 2D 28/04/2020 ………………………………………………… Warm up :5’ Activity: Hot cards  Divide the class into teams (depends on the desk rows in the classroom)  Hand out a phonics card to the first student of each team/ row  Play the song from Unit (Track 65), the first students pass the phonics cards to the next one in their team/ row When the card comes to the last student of each team/ row, pass it backward  Pause the song, the students holding the phonics cards must name them  Give one point for the correct answer  Teacher can change the cards or hand out some more cards as necessary  The team with the most points wins New lesson Teacher’s and students’ activities Content * Activity 1: – apply information technology Colour the things that  Ask the students to take out their colour pencils/ begin with the w sound crayons  Point to the pictures and elicit the sounds and word for each  Ask the students to colour the items that begin with the /w/ sound, use any colour they like  Go around the classroom providing any necessary help Activity Listen, point and  Show the students the watermelon phonics card Point repeat Colour the to it and say: /w/ - watermelon Ask them to repeat pictures of the words that  Mime eating watermelon and say: /w/ - watermelon start with the w sound Encourage the students to the same Say the w words  Say the letter The students perform the action and say the letter and the word (if they can)  Play the CD The students listen, point to and repeat the word  Point to the picture and have students name them  Allow the students some time to colour in the pictures of words start with the /w/ sound  Go around the classroom providing any necessary help * Activity 3: Trace and say  Write on the board the capital letter W (write slowly to demonstrate its formation)  Point to it and elicit the sound /w/  Show the formation in the air (taking care when facing to the students that the letter is formed the correct way for them)  Repeat with the small letter w  The students trace the letters in their activity books  Go around and provide any necessary help Ask the students to say the sound of the letter * Activity 4: Trace and match  Explain the activity First, the students trace the letters in the boxes Then draw lines from the letters to the corresponding pictures  Check around the classroom Answer keys: Uu- under Vv- vase WwWell * Activity 5:  Explain the activity  Ask the students to write letter Ww in the box  Ask them to circle the correct pictures that start with the w sound  Go around and provide any necessary help Ask the individual students to say the name of the pictures * Activity 6:  Explain the activity  Elicit the names of the items with the w sound  Ask the students to colour them any colour they like  Go around the classroom and provide any necessary help Activity 7:  Divide the class into two teams, A and B Write the letter Ww Circle the pictures of the words that start with the w sound Colour the w words Sound and word  Put up the phonics cards of this lesson on the board  Ask a student from team A to identify the sound (one point) and the word (one point)  Continue with a student from team B  Write the points for each team on the board  The team with more points wins Consolidation: (3’) What’s the content of the lesson?
