WEEK 28 Date of preparing: 28/3/2019 PERIOD 55-56 Unit 12 – LeTTER Y LESSON 1-2 I AIMS: Knowledge: By the end of the lesson, students can be able to:  Recognize and pronounce the letter Yy and its sound correctly  Understand, recognize and say the three Yy words  Write the letter Yy Vocabulary :Yo-yo, yellow, yacht Sight words : Yes, I, have, a, it, is Skills: Reading, Listening, Speaking, Writing skill 3.Attitude: Recognize and pronounce the letter Y and its sound (Requirements: students with disability can see and practise ) II TEACHING AIDS - Teacher’s:i-Learn My Phonics Grade , lesson plan, CD Phonics cards - Students’: Pupil’s Book –p.9 i-Learn My Phonics Grade 2, p.56 Activity book II.TEACHING METHODS - Communicative approach - Techniques: + Ask and answer (say individually) + Work in pairs/ groups Discuss IV PROCEDURES:Time: 40mins Organization: (2mins ) - Greeting - Checking for the students' attendance Class Date of teaching Absent Student 2A 2B 2C 2E 2.Warm up:(5mins)  Write the letter X on the board and elicit its sound  Ask individual student to say a word beginning with the /ks/ sound Ask the rest of the class for verification 3.Newlesson Teacher’s and Students’ activities Content Activity 1.Listen, point and repeat 1.Listen, point and repeat Colour Colour (Track 74): Introduction of letter Y, its sound and how to pronounce the words beginning with Yy (6 mins)  Show the students the yo-yo phonic card Point to it and say: /j/ The students repeat  Then say /j /- yo-yo The students repeat  Mime playing with a yo-yo and say: /j /yo-yo Encourage the students to the same  Say the letter, the students perform the action and the word Follow the same procedure: /j/- yellow (point to something yellow), /j /- yacht (rock back and forth Ask students with disability to say the words out loud Requirements: students with disability can see and practise Activity 2.Listen and point Colour: 6ms  Point to the yo-yo and say: Yes, I have a yo-yo Yes, it is yellow! The students repeat  Do the same procedure for the word yacht  Play the CD The students listen and point  Say: Yes, I have a yo-yo Yes, it is yellow! Ask the students to point to the corresponding items  Repeat with the remaining item  Ask the students to colour the yo-yo and the yacht yellow  Go around the classroom ask the students to name the item they are colouring e.g Teacher: (pointing to the yo-yo) Yes, I have a … Student 1: yo-yo! etc sk students with disability trace and colour the letter Requirements: students with disability can see and practise Activity 3: 6ms Yo- yo: yo- yo Yellow: màu vàng Yacht: tàu du lịch 2.Listen and point Colour Yes, I have a yo-yo Yes, it is yellow! Yes, I have a yacht Yes, it is yellow! 3.Chant and show!  Put up the yo-yo, yellow and yacht phonics cards on the board  Point to the phonics cards and say: /j /yo-yo, /j /- yellow, /j/- yacht The students repeat  Play the CD The students listen, follow in their books and chant  Ask the students to the actions of the words when they chant Repeat the chant without the CD Keep the rhythm by clapping hands Pause before the words (yo-yo, yellow, yacht) and encourage the students to name the items Requirements: students with disability can see and sing Activity 4 Listen Read Along (Track 77) (6 mins)  Ask: Can you see the /j/- yo-yo? Point to it  Encourage the students to point to the picture of the word that the teacher says  Play the CD Have the students listen to the story once  Play the CD again The students listen and point to the pictures of the key words when they hear them in the story  Read the story The students follow in their books  Teacher reads the printed words then let the students look at the pictures and say the words  Ask students work in pairs One reads while the other checks, then they swap roles Or one reads the printed words while the other looks at the pictures and says the words  Go around the classroom to provide any necessary help Ask students with disability point and 3.Chant and show! Y, yo-yo! Y, y, y, yo-yo! Yo- yo, y, y,y! Listen Read Along I have a yo-yo It is yellow I have a yacht It is yellow, too I like my yellow yo-yo And my yellow yacht repeat Activity 5 Song : 6ms  Put up the yo-yo, yellow, yacht phonics cards up on the board  Point to the yo-yo and yellow phonics card and say: A yellow yo-yo The students repeat  Follow the same procedure and present the rest of the song  Play the CD The students listen and sing along  Play the CD again The pupils sing and corresponding actions OR ask the students to take out their own yo-yo, yellow, yacht picture cards and place them on their desks Play the CD again The students listen and hold up the corresponding picture cards Song A yellow yo- yo And a yellow yacht!
