Nó không chỉ cần thiết cho một số người làm kinh doanh , du lịch . Mà đòi hỏi mỗi một học sinh đang ngồi trên ghế nhà trường cần phải có một trình độ tiếng Anh nhất định. Chính vì vậy tiếng Anh là một trong những môn học trong trường phổ thông và cũng là một trong những môn thi bắt buộc trong các kỳ thi cuối cấp của học sinh. ở các trường PTTH miền núi dạy tiếng Anh đã và đang là một vẫn đề được quan tâm trong những năm gần đây. Trong quá trình dạy và học ngoại ngữ đọc là một trong những kỹ năng cơ bản rất được chú trọng. Đọc vừa là mục đích vừa là phương tiện hữu hiệu và cần thiết cho học sinh có thể nắm vững, củng cố kiến thức ngôn ngữ, mở rộng vốn từ vựng cũng như hiểu sâu thêm văn phong, cách sử ngôn ngữ mình đang học. ở trường PTTH hiện nay tài liệu chính để dạy một bài đọc hiểu là các bài đọc trong sách giáo khoa. Các bài đọc đó đóng một vai trò rất quan trọng trong việc phát triển kỹ năng đọc hiểu của học sinh. Thật đáng tiếc khi dạy một bài đọc hiểu một số giáo viên chỉ dừng lại ở việc giải thích từ mới, dịch sang tiếng Việt. Vì vậy nó không giúp cho học sinh phát triển được kỹ năng để đọc một bài đọc hiểu. Qua thực tế giảng dạy ở trường PTTH Ba Bể, tôi thấy các em tiếp cận một bài đọc rất khó khăn. Vì thế tôi đã áp dụng một số ký năng để giúp các em hiểu được và quan tâm đến việc học một bài đọc nhiều hơn. Để dạy một bài đọc như thế nào là tốt nhất và sử dụng những kỹ năng nào là hiệu quả nhất. Đó chính là mối quan tâm lớn nhất của tôi. Qua bài kiểm tra chất lượng đầu năm về phần đọc hiểu và phiếu điều tra của học sinh lớp 12C,12D,12E tôi đã phân loại chất lượng của học sinh và tìm hiểu nguyên nhân, từ đó áp dụng kỹ năng thích hợp trong quá trình giảng dạy một bài đọc hiểu ở lớp 12.
