Who’s he? 2. Where is he from? Introduces the new lesson and tells theaims of the lesson. Today, you are going to read a letter from Tim, Hoa’s penpal, so that you will know more about American public holidays. Let’s begin Unit 7 section A2 II. Pre-practice: 1. Teaches some key words Tet holiday (n) explanation Easter (n) explanation Christmas (n) explanation Thanksgiving (n) translation Independence Day ( picture) To celebrate (v) 2.Checks the understanding of the new words ( Using games “ Slap the board” 3.Asks the students to listen to the letter once then answer the guiding questions 1. Who writes the letter? 2. Who receuves it? 3. What is the letter about? III. Controlled-practice: Calls on some students to read loudly the letter in front of the class. Has them read again the letter carefully and answer the questions Calls on some students to give their answers.
