1 ABSTRACT The birth of information technology is the simultaneous integration of technological advances and information organization, bringing many positive effects to the development of education Information technology and especially the development of the internet open up an extremely diverse and rich knowledge base for learners and teachers, making it much easier to learn knowledge and improve learning and teaching quality Besides, in the current trend of globalization, we cannot deny the importance of English as it is used everywhere in the world Seeing the importance and efficiency of information technology in this era, Thuong Mai University has applied information technology in teaching and learning for students, especially is for students in Business English major A number of survey questions will be asked for this group of students to see how well they have applied information technology in their learning process Finally, propose some new and useful information technology applications so that students can apply them to practice foreign language learning in particular as well as other subjects in general I hope that this research will be helpful in spreading current globalization trend, we cannot deny the importance of English as it is used everywhere in the world First of all, English is the international language that is recognized worldwide and is the second language after the mother tongue With the integration of the world together with the foreign companies' penetration into Vietnam market, the importance of English is even more evident If you know English, it will be very easy for you to arrange to work with foreign partners in the international fields and very easy to advance in your career In addition, for those who have not yet worked, English will show a huge part of your ability and intelligence, which will help you easily have a good job with an extremely high salary You will have a great advantage when going to job interviews in English In order to master this foreign language, you have to try your best In short, English is not only a foreign language ability that you have, but is also one of your remarkable achievements Because of its importance and popularity, today many of the great learning materials of educational institutions and major universities are written in English More than half of the websites on the Internet are also written in English, such as online newspapers, global tools and services Just by knowing this language, you can access this endless source of information The importance of English is also reflected in your relationships Of course, knowing English will help you talk, make friends with everyone such as: strangers, colleagues, teachers, and foreigners Because English is spoken popularly in the world, you don’t only make friends with English and American but also make friends with Chinese, Korean, and Japanese, so on Moreover, knowing English will help you connect with people who love using English in the country People who know English are often good and interesting, so reaching out to this community will also bring you a lot of benefits This is one of the biggest benefits of how important it is to learn English Because English is becoming more popular and important, most students choose to major in English However, with today's 4.0 technology era, learning foreign languages through teachers and books is definitely still not enough with the growing amount of knowledge Information technology is a great achievement of the current scientific and technological revolution It penetrates and dominates almost all fields of scientific research, technological application in production, education, training and other political and social activities In education and training, IT is used in all subjects of nature, technique, social and Humanities The obvious effect is that the quality of education increases both in theory and practice Therefore, it is a major topic officially organized by the UNESCO into an action program at the threshold of the 21st century and there will be a fundamental change in education at the beginning of the 21st century due to IT influence For English subject, the application of Information Technology in teaching plays a very important role in the success of the teaching and learning process Currently, the application of information technology in teaching students is most evident through "electronic lectures" The application of IT in teaching and learning English gives students the opportunity to practice listening and speaking skills, the ability to express English, overcome limitations on phonetics, stress, and intonation It is also a motivation for students to try to improve their skills When applying IT in teaching, teachers' lectures are always flexible, which promotes interaction between teachers and learners IT including computers connected to the Internet is a huge data sources for teaching This helps teachers and students can share information, increase self-study time, and solve problems by themselves The students’ schedule is usually not as dense as that of the junior high or high school students It will mostly be arranged according to the students’ own registration schedule Therefore, they have a lot of free time I think that instead of going out, we can find ways to learn English through Information Technologies as effectively as possible As a fourth-year student in the English Faculty of ThuongMai University, I realize that the students have not really taken full advantage of that free time to study foreign languages As a researcher, I want to conduct research on the subject: "A study on the application of information technologies in learning process of English major students at ThuongMai University" I believe that this is a close topic to young people today because technology is growing more and more As we all know, learning foreign languages requires a great deal of effort or endurance Besides, we need to have interest in the learning process, which we can find from the application of information technology 1.2 Previous studies 1.2.1 “Students’ readiness and perceptions towards using mobile technologies for learning the English language literature component.” The study shows that students are technologically, economically and competently prepared for the use of ICT in learning This gives the English language teacher for the opportunity to blend the use of ICT with their conventional teaching This not only helps the teacher to create a new learning environment but also promotes the positive aspects of ICT as a means of lifelong learning The data presented in this paper were analyzed descriptively using frequencies and percentages A total of 235 students were randomly selected to respond to an adapted questionnaire Using SPSS 16, the data were processed and analyzed descriptively The descriptive results showed that the participants displayed readiness and positive perceptions toward using mobile technologies for learning The findings provide some insights to teachers so that they can employ suitable approaches in order to make learning the English language literature component more meaningful through the integration of tools used by Net-generation students The study refers to Mobile Technologies They are usually associated with devices that are portable Sharples (2000) states that technologies can be used in learning as: an intelligent tutor system, simulators and learning tools as well as pedagogy agents, system devices and resources, communication devices, and simulation classrooms In addition, the researcher also refers to Mobile learning or MLearning It is commonly associated with the use of mobile technology especially the mobile phone M-learning relates more to access of the Internet via a portable device such as a mobile phone or a game console Therefore, the integration of mobile learning for school students is seen as an alternative to increase their interest and motivation 1.2.2 “Application of information technology in foreign language teaching: From international experience to reality in Vietnam.” The process of applying IT to education in general and foreign language teaching in particular in the world is divided into three stages, namely: the introduction of technology into the classroom (Introduction); integration of technology into the classroom (Integration); and the technology invisible stage in the classroom Research shows that teachers need to increase their knowledge of information technology as much as possible Researchers offer different levels to describe information technology applications in teaching and learning 1, Reading comprehension: - Understand the technical terms for verbal communication and written language - Illustrate operation (mouse and keyboard) - Use basic computer software applications - Manipulation of communication by email 3, Decision - Apply electronic tools in problem solving - Designing effective solutions to solve practical problems - Develop new strategies and ideas using intellectual manipulation software - Prepare electronic spreadsheets - Create a calendar, address book and school calendar 4, Distinguishing - Assessing electronic software and determining the effectiveness of the software for each learning type of learners and students - Distinguish multimedia sources, multimedia suitable for the development of learners, age, gender, culture, etc 10 - FONT ERROR + Asynchronous fonts on slides: To limit this problem, go to the Home tab on the Ribbon toolbar, in the Editing section, select Replace Fonts and replace the different fonts into a standard font used for the entire necessary to have further studies that can cover the whole problem of information technology application The author wants to suggest that there should be further studies on some English learning software This is considered a great application of information technology in learning foreign languages A study of some specific software is really useful for readers For example, another author might recommend the best software with its features, usage, and benefits in improving English skills In addition, other authors can also expand the scope of the study with more students This helps the study become more objective and gives more accurate results The author hopes that these suggestions will be useful and bring positive effects for students of the following courses at ThuongMai University CONCLUSION 53 The research shows the importance of applying information technology in learning English In the digital age, there are many popular and useful information technology applications for improving English skills In the first chapter of this graduation paper, I mentioned to general theories related to information technology knowledge Next, the survey was conducted with 150 second and third year students of English faculty at ThuongMai University A survey questionnaire examines students' attitudes to applying information technology to learning English In addition, it also shows the current situation of information technology application of English major students at ThuongMai Universities There are a lot of difficulties in applying information technology Therefore, I propose a
