Aims and objectives : + Language Content : - To help the s.s to review about greeting people/ identifying / introducing oneself. - To enable the s.s to use the simple present tense. - To introduce the s.s some information about Hoa so that they can know more about the s.s’life in a new school far from home. +Language Function : - To help the s.s how to say to their friends when they first meet after the summer holiday. - To help the s.s understand the content of the lesson and tell them about their new friends. +Educational Aim : - To make the s.s aware of the importance of the friendship. - To make the s.s aware of the importance of the friendship, especially when they live far from home. 1. Language : + Vocabulary : Nice to see you / Nice to meet you. + Structures : - Simple present tense. 2. Skills : : Speaking – Listening - Reading - Writing 3. Lead in: Sets the situation Presents the picture of the first day of the new school year. Presents the new lesson Asks the s.s some simple questions like these: -Are you happy to be back school again? -Do you have any new friends this year? -What do you say to your friends when you first meet them after the summer holiday? Now all of you look at this picture. Shows the picture to the students. Name who they are. 2. Pre-practice: a) Has them listen to the dialogue 1a twice. Has them listen and repeat the dialogue 1a Revises the use of these phrases: Nice to see / meet you and when we use those example phrases. b) Hangs a picture on the board and introduces something about Hoa and her school. Controlled –practice: 1/ Has the s.s practice the dialogue 1a in group of 3 then change the roles. Calls on some groups to practise the dialogue 1a in front of the class. Has them listen to the dialogue 1b ( with picture on board ) twice. Call on some pairs to practice the dialogue 1b in front of the class. Has them read the dialogue once more to answer the questions ( on page 11 ) Gives remarks and corrects if necessary.
