What was the weather like last night? 2. What did you do last night? 3. What time did you go to bed? 2. Presentaction. I_ Revision: _ Write the answers of the three above questions on the board and tell the ss that today we are going to revise the past simple tense. Eg: _ It was hot. _ I watched TV. _ I went to bed at 10 o'clock. _ The past simple tense: 1. Form: a. To be: Was Were ( not ) b. V V_ ed -- ) Didn't + V ? ) Did + S + V ? Uses: _ Diễn tả 1 hành động, sự kiện hay tình huống xảy ra ở 1 thời điểm cụ thể trong quá khứ và đã chấm dứt. Trong câu thường có các từ như: Yesterday, ago, last, in + thời gian ở quá khứ. Eg: I watched TV last night. _ Dùng trong văn kể chuyện ( kể lại 1 loạt sự việc xảy ra theo trình tự thời gian ). Trong câu thường có các từ như: once, … _ Diễn tả một thói quen ở quá khứ. 3. V  V_ed a. V + ed ( đối với động từ có quy tắc ). b. Nếu V tận cùng bằng " e" , thì chỉ cần thêm " d ". c. Nếu V tận cùng bằng 1 phụ âm + " y ", thì đổi " y " thành " i " rồi thêm " ed ". d. Nếu V 1 vần tận cùng bằng 1 nguyên âm đơn + phụ âm thì gấp đôi phụ âm cuối + " ed " ( không gấp đôi cuối phụ âm cuối là: X, W, Y ). 4. Cách phát âm đuôi ED: /id / : /t /, / d / /t / : /p,k,f,s,ts / / d /--còn lại 3.Practice. Exercises: EX1: Write simple past verbs: talk , end , invite , laugh , rent , study , help , return , miss , call ,close , watch , wish , want , work , fix. EX2: Put the above simple past verbs into 3 columns according to how the ed_ ending is pronounced: [ t ] [ id ] [ d ] EX3: Change the following sentences into negative, yes/ no questions and make questions for the underlined words: 1. She met Jane at five. 2. They learnt English last year. 3. Tom was sick. EX4: Supply the correct verb form: 1. Last night I ( not watch ) TV. 2.
