CHUYÊN ĐỀ : PHRASAL VERBS (CỤM ĐỘNG TỪ)

I Định nghĩa:

Phrasal verb( cụm động từ ) là sự kết hợp của động từ và giới từ hoặc trạng từ

Eg: V+ prep: look for

V+ adv: get away

V+ adv+ prep: catch up with

II Phân loại :

a/ intransitive phrasal verbs (Cụm nội động từ - không có tân ngữ)

EX: The plane will take off at 15:00

b/ Transitive phrasal verbs ( cụm ngoại động từ - có tân ngữ )

+ Inseparable transitive phrasal verbs ( cụm động từ không thể tách ra )

Ex: We are looking for my key ( Wrong: We are looking my key for )

+ Separable transitive phrasal verbs (cụm động từ có thể tách ra )

Ex: Please turn it off ( Wrong : Please turn off it )

Some popular phrasal verbs

Result in: đưa đến

Fill in: điền thông tin

Lie down: nằm nghỉ

Turn up: đến / xuất hiện = arrive

Sell out: bán hết

Send for: cho mời đến

Settle down: ổn định cuộc sống

Think over: suy nghĩ cẩn thận

Run out of: hết

Give up : bỏ / từ bỏ

Bring sb up: nuôi dưỡng

Let sb down: làm ai thất vọng

Make up: bịa ( chuyện)/ trang điểm

Try on: thử quần áo

Turn on/ Turn off: bật lên/ tắt đi

Work out: giải quyết/ lên kế hoạch

Go down: hạ ( giá cả)

Hold on: chờ ( máy điện thoại)

Pass away : chết

Set off/ Set out: khởi hành

Stand out: nổi bật

Take off: cất cánh

Catch up with : theo kịp

Come up against: đương đầu với khó khăn

Come up with: nghĩ ra

Face up to : đối mặt ( khó khăn)

Fall in love with: yêu ai

Go on: tiếp tục

Go off: nổ

Go away: đi khỏi Take over : đảm nhận Take after: giống với Take away : mang đi Come about: xảy ra Come across: tình cờ gặp Come up: xảy ra/ xuất hiện Put in for: tham gia

Put up with : chịu đựng Put off : trì hoãn = delay Put on/ put off: mặc vào / cởi ra Carry out: tiến hành

Carry on: tiếp tục Stand for: là chữ viết tắt của Stand up for: ủng hộ Look up: tra từ điển Look at : nhìn Look for : tìm kiếm Look after : chăm sóc = take care of
