Teaching aim :By the end of the lesson, students will know more about the environment problems and the solutions. 1. Language material : a. Vocabulary :deforestation, garbage dump, dynamite fishing, sewage, spraying pesticides, disappointed b. Grammar:conditional sentences: type 1 2. Language skills : II. PREPARATION : 1. Teaching aids : pictures, text book, flashcards . 2. Techniques : brainstorming, matching, questions and answers. III. PROCEDUCES : 1. Class organization - Greetings -Checking attendance Teacher’s activities Students’ activities 2. Warm up: Brainstorming. -Have ss think of the environmental problems in their city/country. -Have ss write into their small board then raise on, T calls 1 student go to the board and write(as much as possible). Another can add. -Have ss match the environmental problems to the pictures. Work in groups 3.Presentation: *Explain the new words: -Deforestation(n)(explaination:the destruction of the forests):sự tàn phá rừng. -Garbage dump(n)(picture):đống rác. -Dynamite fishing(n)(picture):đánh bắt cá bằng thuốc nổ. -Spraying pesticides(n)(picture):việc phun Dirty streets air pollution waste paper garbages *Match: a.air pollution d.water pollution b.spraying pesticides e.deforestion c.garbage dump f.dynamite fishing Copy the new words. II/Language contents: 1/Grammar: -Adverb clause of reason. -Adjective + that clause. -Conditional sentences type1. 2/Vocabulary: (n): deforestation, dump, dynamite, environment, fence, fly, foam, folk, garbage, hedge, junkyard, mass, pesticide, rock, row, sewage, trash, pollution. (v): cover, minimize, persuade, prevent, provide, reduce, spray, wrap, pollute. (a) : polluted, unpolluted. III/ Skill: listening, speaking, reading, writing. IV/ Procedures: Lesson 1 Getting started & listen and read. Introduce some environment problems. Reading a test for details about the work of a group of conservationist. Lesson 2 Speak & listen Practicing speaking about persuading someone to do something andListening for detail about the pollution and complete the report. Lesson 3 Read Reading a poem for details about the environment. Lesson 4 Write Writing a letter of complaint. Lesson 5 Language focus Practicing in conditional sentences type1 and adverb clauses of reason. Teaching aim :By the end of the lesson, students will be able to persuade their friends to protect the environment. 1. Language contents : b. Vocabulary :raw sewage, pump, spill, prevent, reduce, leaf, faucet, wrap, garbage bin. c. Grammar :-conditional sentences: type 1. -Adverb clause of reason. 2. Language skills : speaking II. PREPARATION : 1. Teaching aids : 2. Techniques : questions and answers. III. PROCEDUCES : 1. Class organization - Greetings -Checking attendance 2. Warm up:Brainstorming. -Have ss work in groups to think of the reasons why ocean is polluted.( explain new words) -Raw sewage(n)(explain): nước thải từ ống cống. -Pump(n)(explain): máy bơm, ống bơm -Spill(v)/spilt/spilt:làm tràn, làm đổ. -Deliberate(adj)(explain):có tính toán, chủ tâm. -T reads new words to ss repeat Have ss listen to the tape twice and complete the notes about the reasons why ocean is polluted. -T gives the best answers. 3.Pre-speaking: Explain some new words: -Prevent(v)(translation):ngăn chặn, phòng chống -Reduce(v)(example:last time, this shirt cost 50.000dongs.Now it cost 30.000dongs. What happens?): giảm, làm giảm. -Wrap(v)(mime):bao bọc. -Faucet(n)(picture):vòi nước. -Leaf(n) – leaves(realia):ngọn lá. Work in teams. While- speaking: *Activity1: -Have ss use the expressions and the ideas cues given to persuade their partner to do somethings to protect the environment *Activity2: -Have ss use the ideas in section a to answer the questionnaire.(P49). *Activity3: -Have ss work in groups to discuss the best way to protect the environment.(They can use the ideas and the expressions for persuading in section a and the answer to the questionnaire b) -Have ss speak together. -Call ss to speak in front of the class (each groups) -T listens then check their pronunciation. 5.Post-speaking: -Have ss take turns to write their ideas on the boarb. -Public correct. 6.Homework: -Write the ways to protect the environment -Prepare part listen. 7. Grammar :-conditional sentences: type 1. -Adverb clause of reason. 2. Language skills : listening II. PREPARATION : 1. Teaching aids : tape, cassettese 2. Techniques : eliciting, questions and answers. III. PROCEDUCES : 1. Class organization - Greetings -Checking attendance 2.Warm up: chatting -Have ss speaking about the problem environment in their country life. -Have ss say with their partners. -Have ss say in front of the class 3.Pre-listening: Brainstorming. -Have ss work in groups to think of the reasons why ocean is polluted. *Introduce the new words: -Raw sewage(n)(explain): nước thải từ ống cống. -Pump(n)(explain): máy bơm, ống bơm -Spill(v)/spilt/spilt:làm tràn, làm đổ. Work in pairs. S1:I think we should burn trash to reduce amount of garbage we produce to protect the environment S2: No, we shouldn’t do that, Burning trash will pollute the air. I think the best way to reduce garbage is to reuse and recycle things. S1: How can we do that? I think only the factory can. S2: What about collecting used paper, bottles and cans every day? Teaching aids : 2. Techniques : eliciting, questions and answers. III. PROCEDUCES : 1. Class organization - Greetings -Checking attendance 2. Warm up: *Asking ss some questions: -Do you like poetry? -Which poet do you like best? -Name some of poems that are your favorite? -Do you think it is easy to understand a poem? -Have you ever read an English poem? Post-reading: -Have ss discuss the questions: “What could you do in your school?/ your house? to minimize pollution?” -Have ss give their ideas. 6. Homework : -Write 3 things that they have to do to keep the environment unpolluted. -Prepare section WRITE. 7. Comments: - - Work in pairs. -Read their answers before the class 1C – 2G – 3F – 4E – 5D – 6A – 7B. -Look at the board then correct. -Copy the best answers into their notebooks. *Answer the questions: ( one asks and one answers ) 1/ If pollution goes on, the world will end up like a second-hand junk-yard. 2/ The mother thinks other folk pollute the environment but not her and her son . 3/ If the boy keep on asking such questions, his mother will take him home right away. 4/ No, I don’t think so. Because it shows that the boy is interested in environment form pollution. 5/ The poet wants us to learn that everyone is responsible for keeping the nevironment from pollution. -Work in groups To minmize pollution I could pick up the rubbsh and throw it into a trash bin. Class organization - Greetings -Checking attendance *Warm up: -Asking ss to find out the verbs beginning with the letters that teacher give. -Give 4, 5 letters at the same time, students are to find out 4, 5 verbs beginning with 4, or 5 letters given. -The group which finish first gets one mark. 2.
