The verb could be in any tense, voice or aspect (past, future, passive, perfect, continuous etc.) 2. Has your company been taken over yet? 3. The verb may be irregular in the past or past participle 4. My friends put me up last weekend 5. The verb may have no connection with the meaning of the phrasal verb 6. I can't make out if that's you in this photo 7. The preposition may have no connection with the meaning of the phrasal verb 8. I thought you had given up smoking 9. The same phrasal verb may be the same type but have completely different meanings 10. He turned the music down. He turned the job down 11. The same phrasal verb may be of different types with different meanings 12. He turned the TV up because he couldn't hear it. He turned up late for the meeting 13. The same phrasal verb may have a literal and a metaphorical meaning 14. He ran out of the house. He ran out of petrol 15.
