Introduction This is a book report which we have to in course English 2B. Our task is to read a short book called “Free the Children ” then we must write assignment about it based on guidelines. This assignment is aimed at improving our reading comprehension, note-taking skills, report writing skills and research methodology on a country listed in the book. As well as it attends our towards tourism- oriented activities. For this assignment, we work in group of four. Our group’s name is “4 Link”. Mean is 4 member whose name is Linh linked together to complete this exercise. Include: Dương Thị Linh, Cung Diệu Linh, Hoàng Trà Linh and me Vũ Diệu Linh. My group must read “Free the Children”. There is a story about the adventure of a young boy called Craig Kielburger from Canada to Asia to find out the answer clearly for question “ What is a child slave?” as well as his idea to help children slaves. After reading this book, we write a report which has three essential parts: introduction, body and conclusion. We shared task as follows: I- Linh Vu write introduction, conclusion, recommendations and improve report because I have just experienced in previous assignment. Linh Hoang makes part I. Her task will use a blank map to draw Craig’s route around Asia and take notes on the types of ethnic foods, forms of transportation, religions and cultural notes that are presented about each country. Linh Duong and Linh Cung make part II. Their task writes a short report about Thailand where Craig visited. We tried a lot to complete this exercise and your point donation estimates our effort. Transportation _Visited Dhaka. _Entered by air. _Took a rickshaw through a street. _Animals walked the streets freely. _ From Bangladesh to India: +No transportation leaf the city, +Craig walked 12 km to the ferry boat; was required special paper to board the ferry. +Planes to Calcutta were full, had to tried Thai airline. _Flew from Bangladesh to Thailand instead of flying to India. _Visited Bangkok _Car drivers got angry driving through crowded streets. _Could come to India by rickshaw, bus and ferryboat from Bangladesh _Visited Calcutta; Varanasi; Delhi; Madras; Cochin; Bombay. _Went by train to Delhi. _Rickshaw _Flew over the Himalayas, the tallest mountains in the world, from India to Kathmandu. _Visited Kathmandu. Board a bus for Lahore. _The bus was much cheaper than a plane. _The drives stoped at a restaurant if the owners paid them some money. And left quickly if they didn’t pay. Religions Buddhism - Buddhists belived: “One good Website: http://www.docs.vn Email : lienhe@docs.vn Tel : 0918.775.368 5 turn deserves another” Culture _In Dhaka, people spoke English. _People greeted by saying “Salam malekum”. _At meals, men ate first and women ate later. _Children pick up trash, sold food or beg. _Women washed clothes on the street. _People moved to cities looking for work and food. _Houses were made by boxes. _Standed in a queue to take water from a pump. _Children walked to school for a few hours. _Couldn’t afford for hospital. _Girls: worked all day, not be taught to read and to write. _ Famous for warm people, for children prostitution. _People could be so polite and gentle. _Put hands together and bow to greet. _Had ‘sex tour’; sex trade: +Some streets were bright light at night +Bars were everywhere. +Police made lot of money from sex trade. _Calcutta was poor, but active. _The rich and the poor mix together. _Some people thought child workers are necessary. _Some children were proud to be working, treating like adults. _The poor worked hard but earned a little money. _ Mahatma Grandhi -famous philoshopher was; Mother Theresa - famous humanitarian. _ Had local festival in Madras _In Kerala, 99% children attend high school. _1/15 population lived on the streets; paid for space on the sidewalk to sleep. _Cricket was popular. _Sang in _Had the helping street children orgnization, called CWIN _1500 children lived on the streets. _“Namaste” was a common spoken greeting. _Not safe _Had some violence.
