Period: 10 Lesson 5: LANGUAGE FOCUS I/- Aim: By the end of this lesson, Ss will be able to understand the usages of adverb clauses of reason, adjective + that clause, and conditional sentences 1 II/- Language contents: 1/- Grammar: Adj. and advs. Adj. + that- clause Adverb clauses of reason: As, Since, Because Conditional sentences 1 2/- Vocabulary: sea creature, preserve, respiratory problem, seriously, inedible. poisonous III/- Techniques: Goupwork, Brainstorming. IV/- Teaching aids: Small board V/- Procedures: T’s and Ss’ activities Content I. Warm up (5 mins) - T. asks Ss to give an adjective, T. supplies an adverb and make sentences. - Then T. asks Ss to make sentences from the words: beautiful  beautifully + The photos are beautiful + These sights look beautiful. + The baby sings beautifully. - Which group write more right sentences, will win. II.Presentation (7 mins.) - T. gives some new words. - T. asks Ss to look at the book and tell the grammar. * Brainstorming * New words: - sea creature (n): sinh vật biển = marine - preserve (v): bảo tồn - respiratory problem: vấn đề hô hấp - seriously (adv): nghiêm trọng, trầm trọng - inedible(adj): không ăn được - poisonous (adj.): độc hại * Grammar: • Adjectives and andverbs • Adverb clauses of reason • Adjective + that clause • Conditional sentences: type 1 III. Practice (26 mins) 1. Activity 2: Language focus 3 - T. gives the adjectives used with that- clause. - Then T. explains the example. - T. calls Ss read the example. - Ss finish the dialogue. Use the words in brackets. - T. corrects. Activity 3: Language focus 4, 5 - T. asks Ss to match and explain. - T. asks Ss to write the structure of Conditional sentences 1. - T. guides Ss complete the sentences (main clause). Language focus 4: 1 – e; 2 – a; 3 – c; 4 – d; 5 – b Language focus 5: b) …, the environment will become seriously polluted. c) …, we will have more shade and fresh air. d) …, the vegetables will become poisonous and inedible. e) …, we will live happier and heathier life. IV. Production (5 mins.) * Identify the mistakes: 1. If we went on littering, there will have no fresh water to use. 2. I am disappointed that people have spoil this place. Comments: - T. asks Ss to give the verb after “suggest”. - T. suppies some new words. - Then T. explains the topic of exercise a). - Ss. finish the ideas by using the structure above. They can add more. - T. asks Ss to read the request of patr 3.b/ p.64 and do like example. Language focus 3: Make suggestions Make suggestions. S + suggest + V-ing - war invalid: thương binh - raise money: gây quỹ a) Suggestions of helping the poor of the neiborhood of our school:  I suggest organizing a show to raise money.  I suggest giving a lesson to poor children.  I suggest helping elderly people and war invalids with their chores. b) Suggestions of improving one’s English: S + suggest + that + S + should + V(inf.)  I suggest that you should write sentences with new words.  I suggest that you should speak English in class.  I suggest that you should buy a good dictionary.  I suggest that you should do some reading everyday.  … . Activity 3: Language focus 4, 5 - T. asks Ss to match and explain. - T. asks Ss to write the structure of Conditional sentences 1. - T. guides Ss complete the sentences (main clause).
