LESSON PLAN  Teacher: Do Van Hung Group: 12A2 Room: 2 Unit: 5 HIGHER EDUCATION Lesson: Reading Time: 7-7.45 A.M Date: 11/11/2009 Objectives: - Students could understand the passage and use new words after reading. - Students can scan for specific information, passage comprehension, and arrange the sequence of an event. Specific objectives/activities Materials/ Aids Procedures/interactions Time - To warm-up students establish topic, and answer the question on page 52. - Picture of Dong Thap University. - Devides class into 2 groups and gives the instructions of the game. - Asks students guess what the picture is about. - Gives them some suggestions to help them guess. Suggestions: 1. It’s one of the universities in the Mekong River Delta. 2. It’s in the province here is famous about lotus. 3. Its name begins with letters D and has 8 letters. - The first group calls out the name of this university is the winner. 7’ 1 - To help students use some new words. - To help students understand the passage by scanning the context, arranging the sequence, and helping students do tasks. - Chalk and blackboard. - Textbook on page 54 and poster. - Textbook on - Congratulation the winner. Answer key: Dong Thap University - Shows the picture of Dong Thap University on the board and asks students some question about this university to lead in the lesson. Vocabulary: 1. mate (n): bạn bè 2. daunt (v): làm nản chí 3. midterm (n): giữa năm học 4. tertiary study (adj): giáo dục đại học 5. applicant (n): người xin học 6. undergraduate course (n): khóa học đại học - Models, then asks students listen, repeat in chorus and individual, and write them on the board. - Students listen, repeat, and write down. - Checks vocabulary (rub out and remember). Task 2: Find some one who (on page 54) - Shows the poster on the board. - Asks students read the passage and do the task 2 in pairs. - Calls some groups give their answers. - Feedbacks and corrects their answers. Answer key: Sarah: 1.a ; 2.e Allen: 3.b ; 4.c Breden: 5.d ; 6.f Task 3: Comprehension questions (on page 54) 8’ 20’ 2 page 54 and poster. - Textbook on page 54 and poster. - Asks the students read the passage again and do task 3 in pairs. - Devides class into 2 groups and shows the poster on the board (lucky star). - Calls these groups read their answers and write them on the board. - Feedbacks and corrects their answers. It provides him plenty of opportunities to meet non-engineering students as well as other engineers and many of them have become his best friends. Task 1: Gap fills (on page 54) - Shows the poster on the board and asks students do task 1 in group. - Calls these groups give their answers and write them on the board. 3 - To help students use new words to practice speaking skills about the topic. - Table completion - Feedbacks and corrects answers. (I want to become an engineer.) What will you fell, if you study at university you like? (Comfortable and exciting) (Happy and funny) 10’ 4 Do you want to live in dormitory or boarding house if you study at university you like? Why? (Dormitory, have a lot of friends, funny, and interesting) (Boarding house, can cooking, comfortable , and quiet) - Calls some pairs to talk about this university they like. - Feedbacks and corrects some point. Homework: - Write a paragraph about university where they like to apply for. - Prepare the speaking lesson. 5 .
