IELTS SPEAKING

1 FARM

*Have you ever visited a farm?

Yeah I have fortunately A few years ago, I went on the trip with my family to Da Lat and we pay a visit a cococa farm We got a chance to learn about the process of making cococa and were offered a hot cup of cococa right on-side (ngay tại chỗ) It was a really wonderful experience

*What kind of farm do you like?

I think I prefer a mixed farm where I can see a different types of livestock, cattle and crops all together In

my imagination, I can chase (đuổi) cows, sheep or chickens in the farmyard lie on the bale of hay (đống rơm) to enjoy the sunshine or simply eat fresh fruit straight from the farm (trực tiếp từ trang trại) Just a thought of it (chỉ nghĩ đến thôi là) already makes me feel so excited

*What can you do on a farm?

I guess there’re plenty of things to do If you visit a fruit farm, you can water the trees or pick the fruit If you’re on a livestock farm, you can college the eggs, milk the cows or simply feed animals there

*Do you think farm is important?

Yeah no doubt about that (khỏi phải bàn) it provides food and jobs for people all over the world Almost everything we eat on a daily basis is related to farming For an agriculture-based country where farming is like a backbone (xương sống) of economy, it’s even more important

*Did you do any farm work when you were young?

No, not at all I was born and raised in a big city so I didn’t have have to do anything related to farming when I was younger It’s okay for me I guess because I’m not really interested in farm work anyway

*Are there any farms in your hometown?

My hometown has witnessed drastic changes over the past few years so there’re not so many farms left now You can still see a few farms there but most of them are family-run (gia đình tại gia) and are quite small

*Do you care much about the process of making food?

Yeah I really do, especially in this day and age when food chemicals and food additives (phụ gia thực phẩm) are widely used I have to pay more attention to the things that I put in my mouth (cho vào miệng)

As a matter of fact (thực tế thì), I’ve seen quite a few videos about the process of making certain kinds of food and they were really fascinating to me

2 TAKING A REST

*How often do you take a rest?

I take a rest every weekend It’s because I don’t go to school on weekends That means I have enough time to sleep all day and recharge my battery

*What do you usually do when you are resting?

Trang 2

I’d say in most cases, I try to be idle and isolated when I’m resting It means I don’t move a muscle at all That more like lying down on my bed all day long I find it very comforting and revitalizing

*Do you take a nap (go for a rest)when you are taking your rest?

Well, yes of course, I do! Since I can’t really catch more than 6 hours sleep on weekdays Simply stated, I take a catnap on weekends to restore energy Feels good

*How do you feel after taking a nap?

To be honest with you, I feel sharp after a catnap It’s like all my senses are powered up making more productive And for me, the perfect nap is 20 minutes and I set an alarm on my phone not to miss it

3 TREE

*Do you like tree?

Absolutely, yes don’t get me wrong (don’t misunderstand me) I’m not a tree hunger but trees are a thing

of beauty and essential for human life

* What kind of trees do people usually plant in your country?

I am not exactly an expert in this topic, but if I were to speak, based on my limited experience and knowledge, then I think that the climate that our country has and the fact that we used to be, like, an agricultural nation really defines what is popular as a plant in our country First of all, food crops, such as rice plants and corns, are seen throughout Vietnam, not only the southern part but also the northern and the central areas as well Some tropical flowers of varying shapes and colors also blossom in all four seasons, or two, in the southern part, across the country Some notable examples would be peach blossom, plum flowers, bougainvillea,… Some tropical trees that are very famous here are jackfruits, flame trees and coconut palms

*Have you ever planted a tree?

Well, if you consider planting some very small, very easy to plant trees like, just bean sprouts, back then

in primary school planting a tree, then yes, I have Wouldn’t say that I’m proud of it, though, but I would say that I did do it when I was a kid

* What kinds of trees do you plant?

I am not exactly someone with a green thumb, so I tend to stay away from trees, flowers, plants in

general The only time that I did try to grow some trees was back in second grade and it was homework in

my biology class We had to grow, like, bean sprouts in cotton and I did succeed in planting the seeds and making them grow I think the reason why I succeeded was because I didn’t take care of them at all I just left them there Maybe that’s why they have survived

someone with a green thumb (idiom): một người khéo trồng cây/mát tay với trồng trọt

* Do you like planting trees? Why?

Like I have mentioned before, I am not someone who has a talent in planting trees, doing gardening, all of that stuff, and I am also not exactly the hugest nature lover out there So yeah I hardly ever do it, besides a few times back when I was still a small, little child I don’t have any interest in doing it in the future or at present, either I think it would be better if I just focus on what I’m really good at and have an interest in

Trang 3

*Do you think math is important?

Yeah, that’s for sure In my opinion, math play an crucial role in our lives It help us calculate things in a quicker way More importantly, it enhaces our problem-solving and reasoning skills in the long run

*Do you think it’s difficult to learn mathemetic well?

I’m not sure what other people think but in my case I find it quite tough (khó nhằn) There’re simply too many formulas and equations to memorize Back when I was secondary school, I always had to struggle with math homework and my grades were pretty average

*Are girls generally good at mathmetics?

Well, I don’t want to sound biased (thiên vị), but based on my observations Boys tend to be better at math compared to their female counterparts Girls seem to be more competent when it comes to arts subject like literature or languages

*Do you often use a calculator?

Well it actually depends if it’s a complicated math problem or situation where I have to give an

immediate response to an adding or multiplying number question I would definitely go for a calculator but sometimes I do prefer to do mental arithmetic you know because I think at some point it helped me to train my brain muscles so that I can have shaper mind
