Reasons
Cancer has become more common in recent years for a variety of reasons, including increased labor intensity, environmental pollution, poor nutrition, and so on.Cancer is one of the most obsessive and difficult-to-treat diseases It is the leading cause
of death in Vietnam, accounting for 73.5% of all deaths, compared to 59.7% globally.Cancer risk is 49.4% in developed countries and 67.9% in developing countries, whichare 24.1% and 5.6% lower than Vietnam, respectively The annual rate of cancer patientsseeking treatment at K Hospital has increased by 20-30% Oncology hospitals are alwaysovercrowded and overflowing with patients The majority of patients seek medicalattention after their cancer has progressed to the terminal stage
The number of cancer cases is increasing, but the number of doctors whospecialize in cancer treatment is limited The level of oncologists in the upper and lowerglands, as well as in the same hospital, varies The examination, diagnosis, and treatmentregimen are not something that can be done immediately; even doctors have the ability todiagnose/prescribe an incorrect treatment regimen that is not appropriate for the patient'scondition if it is an unusual or rare case The increasing quality of treatment requirementsrequire constant standardization and updating of treatment regimens The number ofpatients is always overburdened… and the world's medical literature is constantlyupdated, making it difficult for doctors to catch up in time New cancer medications areconstantly being developed, but information on side effects and references is scarce Withchallenges in both machinery and human resources, applying information technology tothe health sector is a critical issue
IBM Watson for Oncology - An artificial intelligence cancer diagnosis systemcapable of assisting doctors in updating new regimens, adding information, and reducingerrors in the treatment process while making treatment recommendations for most stages, including chemotherapy and endocrinology The combined digital transformation project
Trang 13between IBM WFO and SUNS Software JSC will be developed to support cancertreatment while also providing solutions to operate and control treatment via medicalsoftware The project's outcomes will include not only the convenience for patients anddoctors, but also a change in the working process and handling of medical records, aswell as the quality of medical examination and treatment at the medical facilities that theteam develops, while also promoting the development of medical examination andtreatment services in Vietnam.

Trang 23Chapter 2: SUNS Software JSC Analysis
2.1 SWOT
2.1.1 Strengths
- User-friendly applications that are simple to use and operate
- There is an investment in the SUNS ecosystem's software and applications
- Because the company was founded not long ago, the management team andemployees are adaptable and open to technological innovation, particularlyautomation and telemedication in the medical field
2.1.2 Weaknesses
- Because the company is new, it does not yet have a solid customer base
- Because the number of employees, particularly programmers, is limited, themajority ccould be full-stack developers (which could be good or bad, depending
- There is far too much medical information to follow: According to one statistic, the volume of medical information doubles every three years A doctor must read
29 hours per day to be able to read all medical information (which is impossible)
- Without advanced technology, big data sources such as electronic health records(EHR), "omic" data - genomics, metabolomics, and protein data (proteomics) willnot be thoroughly analyzed
2.1.4 Threats
- Unpopular in Vietnam
Trang 24- The marketing strategy is insufficient, as it does not fully communicate thecompany's mission to domestic and international markets regarding theapplicability of digital transformation in the medical field.
2.2 Recommendation: IBM WFO
In today's world, the application of AI in the medical industry is critical Medicalfacilities can use AI to:
- Improve the quality of medical examination and treatment
- Management convenience and maximum cost savings
- Reduce close contact to protect both people and medical personnel's health
- Reduce downtime at multiple stages
After analyzing the pros and cons of the internal and external environments(SWOT), our team realized that SUNS Software JSC needed to come up with a digitaltransformation model/solution that strongly impacts people's health, specifically cancer
2.2.1 Actual circumstance
According to data released at the recent International Scientific Conference onCancer Prevention in Hanoi, Vietnam has the world's second highest cancer incidence.Every year, Vietnam records over 200,000 new cases, with up to 82,000 deaths InVietnam, cancer is the leading cause of death, accounting for 73.5% of all deaths, compared to 59.7% globally Cancer risk is 49.4% in developed countries and 67.9% indeveloping countries, respectively, which is 24.1% and 5.6% lower than Vietnam.According to these statistics, the cancer death rate in Vietnam is extremely high Theyalso reflect that because the majority of cancer patients in Vietnam detect the disease late, and the treatment is ineffective
Cancer patients seeking treatment at K Hospital have increased by 20-30% year onyear Oncology hospitals are always overcrowded and at capacity The vast majority ofpatients seek medical attention after their cancer has reached the terminal stage In fact, cancer prevention and treatment in Vietnam only meets 25% of patients' needs Despitean
Trang 25increase in the number of specialized oncology hospitals, the number of patients still doesnot meet the requirements.
Cancer has become increasingly common in Vietnam in recent years, andeveryone, whether old or young, male or female, is at risk of getting it According tomedical experts' research, there are numerous reasons why the incidence of cancer inVietnam has increased rapidly There are three major groups of causes, which are asfollows:
Group 1 - High labor intensity:
- According to the most recent survey on employee working hours, up to 95% ofnon- home and FDI enterprises are required to work overtime and night shifts on aregular basis This group of workers' health checks revealed that they were in poorhealth and had a low ability to fight disease Furthermore, the issue of laborprotection in Vietnam has received little attention Workers who work in toxic, chemical, or radioactive environments but are not fully protected are still at risk
Nhóm 2 - Environmental pollution:
- Vietnam has extremely high levels of air pollution Many days, the air pollutionlevel in major cities such as Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City is at the purple level, which is extremely dangerous Air pollution, smog, tobacco smoke, pesticides, artificial odors, low-quality perfumes, and other factors are increasing theincidence of cancer, particularly lung and throat cancer Low food hygiene andsafety standards, soil pollution, food containing toxic chemical residues, and so onare the leading causes of stomach, colon, and esophageal cancer
Nhóm 3 – Poor nutrition:
- Vietnamese eating habits are primarily based on preferences, with little regard forscience Vietnamese people enjoy eating raw food, grilled food, salads, and otherunhealthy foods capable of attacking genetically modified cells The economycontinues to face many challenges, and the saving habit causes many people to eatmoldy food, food that has passed its expiration date, food that has been left in the
Trang 26refrigerator for an extended period of time is of poor quality, and so on, causingtoxins to accumulate in the body Preservatives and stimulants in food are also
Trang 27concerning These are the primary causes of the high incidence of gastrointestinal cancersamong Vietnamese people.
In addition to the above objective causes, Vietnamese people frequently face adilemma, which is the subjective "disease." Most Vietnamese people avoid general healthexaminations and periodic screenings due to subjective psychology, or apprehension andfear As a result, only when one's health begins to deteriorate rapidly does one seekmedical attention, and one may eventually learn that one has cancer (usually stage 3, 4).With the growing number of cancer cases, the number of doctors with cancertreatment expertise is limited Oncologists' qualifications differ at the upper and lowerlevels, and even within the same hospital The examination, diagnosis, and treatmentregimen are not something that can be done immediately; even doctors have the ability todiagnose/prescribe an incorrect treatment regimen that is not appropriate for the patient'scondition if it is an unusual or rare case Treatment regimens must be constantlystandardized and updated due to the increasing quality of treatment requirements Thenumber of patients is always on the rise, and the world's constantly updated medicalliterature makes it difficult for doctors to keep up New cancer medications are constantlybeing developed, but information on side effects and references is scarce
2.2.2 IBM WFO
IBM Watson For Oncology (WFO) - An IBM cognitive computing systemspecializing in cancer treatment and trained by Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center(MSKCC - the world's leading cancer center with a history of more than 130 years ofcancer research and treatment - was launched to meet the needs of doctors
This is a cognitive computing system designed to help oncologists make treatmentdecisions It can make recommendations for treatment plans, cite medical sources, clinical trials, and keep up to date with advances and changes in cancer treatment
