Ecosystems Hệ sinh thái An ecosystem is a geographic area where plants, animals, and other organisms, as well as weather and landscape, work together to form a bubble of life. Ecosystems contain biotic or living, parts, as well as abiotic factors, or nonliving parts. Biotic factors include plants, animals, and other organisms. Abiotic factors include rocks, temperature, and humidity. Every factor in an ecosystem depends on every other factor, either directly or indirectly. A change in the temperature of an ecosystem will often affect what plants will grow there, for instance. Animals that depend on plants for food and shelter will have to adapt to the changes, move to another ecosystem, or perish.

An ecosystem is a large community of living organisms (plants, animals and microbes) in a particular area It is a biological community of interacting organisms and their physical environment The living and physical components are linked together through nutrient cycles and energy flows. Ecosystems can be of any size, but usually they are in particular places Examples: Forest Ecosystems, Grassland Ecosystems, Desert Ecosystems, Tundra Ecosystems, Freshwater Ecosystems, Marine Ecosystems Plants need sunlight for the process of photosynthesis During photosynthesis plants use the energy of the sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide, to create glucose (sugar) Carnivores are animals ECOSYSTEM DIAGRAM that feed on other animals e.g lion, tiger, vulture, fox etc Decomposers Herbivores are organisms, are animals especially a that feed on soil bacterium, Green plants aree.g plants fungus, or producers sincedeer, horse, invertebrate, they capture and etc that convert the decomposes energy of the sun Decomposed organic into food needed plants and material by organisms animals within become soil ecosystems and minerals needed by plants during photosynthesis MAN IN THE ECOSYSTEM Man plays an important role in the destruction of many ecosystems hence leading to the depletion and extinction of several species Some of man’s irrational practices include: deforestation, fishing excessively, industrialization, hunting, dumping, poor farming practices and more MAN’S IMPACT ON ECOSYSTEMS FREE SCIENCE RESOURCES 1ST – 6TH GRADES • www.ecosystemforkids.com • Games | Quizzes | Worksheets | ppts
